I took a palm leaf and dropped it in behind the green rectangle that represents a tennis court in proportions and color. Behind the palm leaf is a tennis ball or sun shape. I brought the yellow in as a gradient on 'DESERT' to help balance the yellow color out and not just have it in one spot. I did the same with the purple by having it in the smaller type at the bottom to match the leaf. The leaf has a light gradient on it fading from the purple towards white like light reflecting off of it from the word 'PALM.' I think the color pallet is fun, vibrant and does sort of make one think of a destination in the desert, maybe colors around a desert oasis purple blooms on a cactus and the green of a palm or cactus. The colors and tones also play well together, they match up well.
This one is the same as #11 but on a dark background and with the font that matches the initials in the PDTC instead of the skinny condensed all upper case font that I used on #11. It also eliminates the purple from the pallet by making the letters that fall on the black background white. I put the @ symbol on both of these on the end of a tennis ball yellow bar that fades to the background color to show motion as if moving down the court or "to" Embassy Suites.
I set up the initials on this one to where the 'D' and the 'C' makes the seams of a tennis ball where those letters cross over the yellow circle. The yellow circle represents both the tennis ball and the sun representing desert. I used the shape of the tennis court aerial view as the enclosure or frame around the logo or initials, seemed like a natural fit or shape.
