I think I might have forced the perspective a bit too much but, before redrawing the 'hills', I thought I'd check this was the sort of thing you had in mind.
It was also necessary to keep one line of connection running through the hills in order to split the colours.
My kids have a day off today because of teacher training, so I'm on a family day out at the moment, but I will provide variations a bit later in the day.
Really like it. Would like to see one where the circles aren't connected...looks kind of like a "network." That might be good, but would also appreciate the alternative. Also, the logo might be better in a non-square form. Maybe the shape of Texas with a similar feel...or something less linear. Really good stuff, though.
The icon represents the arrangement of The Seven Hills of Rome, with the largest, Palatine, in the centre. The blue/red colour split is a nod to the Dallas flag.
