Thank you for your entries Ayik. They are striking. One thing I struggle with is that in the US, a circle with a diagonal slash through it means "no" or "stop" and the graphic element looks very similar to that. I understand your direction, but I would prefer to see something that looks less like the well known symbol. Thanks!

In this design I simply implement the letter "N" into a circle and two points of the compass.
