I uploaded what I could in the few minutes I had before the first phase of the contest ended. Please let me know if this is a style you may be interested in. I did not have time to work on the canal boat or try font variations yet. If you have any request or feedback, I'd appreciate it. :)
I like the typography in these but the lanterns seem a little too detailed and may not translate well to the different mediums they will be appearing on. Maybe if it was simplified
Thanks for the feedback. I understand this was my attempt to get something in the contest quickly. (I literally saw the contest when it said 47 minute where left. I was working a variation when I saw the time wind down. That's why, I did not even attemp a variation with a canal boat. Anyway, at this point, only the Top 5 designers you choose are allowed to submit changes. (Not the top 5 ranks, but rather designer.) In order to get additional submission, you have to play musical chairs with the rank, by ranking and then reranking.
To be completely fair to the other designer, be sure that you communicate with them so that if anyone is in the top five will have a chance to upload. Some might not choose to submit anything more, so it gets a bit difficult for the CH to see bump someone out of top 5 and then not get any response or new variations from the new designer. (Hope that makes sense. :)
