Here are a couple of designs for you. Thank you for the invite. Something to consider to update on your brief wall...it would be good for you to be clear as to whether this is actually a game??? I'm not sure, the clarity or purpose of the website. First impression is that it might be a kinky website...so if you would clarify that. Some of us steer away from these. So please update and let us know. If it is a clean fun game or a meeting/dating website?? It will open the door up for more designers who aren't sure about your purpose. And I hope you understand, I too avoid these contests...it is not because of religious views as much as it is about the safety of women and men.
Can you see how we may be misinterpreting your notes? Let us know.
I apologize if this offends you.... I realize it is a social network...some of your notes to me aren't clear and I see that many designers who would be great at this contest are not on your contest. Maybe they are unclear also??
I read over all your notes a few times looked at all your attachments...
****If you would define the website's purpose clearly that would help.
I am extremely busy today and won't be able to get back to LT until this evening I will check back..
Thanks for your comments. To answer your big question, this is definitely not a kinky mobile app or website - we are really against that type of thing.
The idea behind YoBar is about making the process of meeting people really fun and interactive - far more so than what you have seen on Facebook.
Thank you Rodney for clarifying that.... I added some additional simple designs for you and will check back at about 8 CST Hadn't had a chance to see if any others were submitted that are similar... I know you are asking to add designs without the cocktail glass but thought I would try a different 'angle'
A big Congats! You easily made it into our Top 5!! We hope that you are as excited as we are about working together.
Being that we have a short amount of time to work with you during this last phase, we just wanted to share some of our thoughts of what seem to be working best from the designs that we received. We have physically posted up all the designs we have received on a big wall and have asked quite a number of people in the team what they like and don't like.
This doesn't mean you need to agree with the feedback as we still don't want to limit your thinking.
In terms of your logo's, I know we have given you a lot of feedback already. We do feel that #135 and #143 is the strongest of your options. In general we like the neatness of your logo but would like to see other versions of the icon and a couple of other options and fonts if possible.
We would like to also see any other icons other than the cocktail glass, something neat and distinctive even if it is outside the Bar theme.
In general, here are some of their thoughts on the other logos. They were overwhelmed by the creativity of everyone. It seems like most of the people that we surveyed like the YoBar/Yobar in clear simple text. Some like the text in two colours and some liked it in one colour but all thought the text needed to be clear and readable as one word and not broken up with icon's etc. Also, many of the people thought that they text should not either be too formal but thought that it should be recognisable as a word and that we should try out more fonts and tweak the text to make it feel distinctive (so it should have distinctive but clean feel).
There was a big debate about using the cocktail glass. While everyone loves the idea of cocktails, there where strong and different feelings of whether the cocktail glass makes the service look too specific to a certain users taste and a little too female orientated and a bit pretentious. This is not to say people didn't love the cocktail icons.
From what came out, is that the icon and the logo need to complement each other but should be separate element. It seems that most of the people thought that the icon should be able to be used independently of the Yobar logo and should be able to work neatly together and the height of the icons/imagery should be only a small amount bigger than the text so that it could be neatly represented on one line.
In terms of the icon, the people surveyed like the concept of the cocktail, speech bubble, the Yo and something that can be interpreted as people chatting and having a great time (as this is a meeting environment with a lot of game elements). Also if you can do that logo so that it works in a 1 or 2 colours, that seems to get the best feedback.
If you have any questions or if you want to do a Skype call, I am available (ID: rodneykuhn). My time zone is GMT +2 so I am available any time day or night (assuming I am not sleeping).
Here are some additions moving in another direction after reading your notes. I will check back in the morning to see your response. I will be out most of the day but will get back as soon as I return.
Also so you know... designers are not allowed to communicate with Contest Holders outside of the contests other than comments on the contest wall or messages until the contest is completed. this would cause violation points that could result in removal from LT..
