We like the concepts presented here, but they lack the sophistication an "trusted resource" feel. They are a bit too playful in execution, but are on the right track conceptually.
I will work on this for you...I can create stylized options but there are infinite possibilities. I usually don't work in rigid, web 2.0 styles with a lot of gradients. My style really is soft lines, brush stroke, freestyle.
Would you look at my portfolio and see if there are any styles you like and let me know. I didn't do a brush stroke on your logo since I wasn't sure if that would be an option. I can however work with the same style outline and stylize the hand. I originally was thinking about the homeschool curriculum for children.
I am staying away from more complex, rigid, Web2.0 styles though.
Are you referring to #6 when you say ....resurrect the Orange Gold Globe?
Wow, I just looked at your logos page. Quite impressive. We are looking for unique, simple, impressive, and flexible. We want it to speak volumes of who we are. We want it to work across brands, and sub-brands. I am not sure what to suggest from your styles.
MFW is more than Homeschool for little kids. We are preschool through high school and working on a post high school training program for individuals and families. We have a print shop. We are give money away to Bible translation. We are developing more companies in new areas to give money away. All these businesses will be in the MFW family.
We are looking for true branding. We want you to use your imagination. Feel free to suggest several options.
Hi, Here are two more options #66 #67 They may not have enough flair for what I think I'm understanding in your request. I will be out for the entire day. When you go into the next phase of your contest only the top 5 may submit revisions and new designs...I will check back for your comments.
I think I am understanding maybe that you want a free flowing line..I wanted to do that on my hand but your first place entry added that style before I did so that is not possible for me to do that even though theirs is a dove and a hand symbol.
I will check back and see if you would like me to continue.
The only suggestion I would say since your curriculum is for elementary and middle school to not be restrictive on a style that is more child like. The parents may be more attracted to the playful invitation and use bright colors even though you said you have a presence with the black and yellow. It will open up the designers to give you more options...you can be somewhat playful and still have the quality you are looking to achieve for your branding. In your conventions the 'busyness' of signage is also important to consider...the black backgrounds will set you out with your banners and 'reds' are always a visual impact color.
I will ask for input and ideas tonight. But will not be back until later....if you think that any of these designs have potential or would like me to work on new concepts I will do that for you.
#103 all the variations of this with the globe or suggestion of the globe....and this last one is a horizontal format, I noticed the space allowed on your website.
We like your variations of 98-103. I like the tilt. Please feel free to enter other options and add other colors as you suggest. We are not limited to black and yellow but feel that it identifies us so far and don't want to lose 10 years for recognition with something new but it is definitely time to mature as we move to High School and Post High School. A Leadership training school is in the works as well. We are looking for something simple flexible powerful that will help people identify with our maturity and academics. But we also need to carry it across brands with some simple tweaks for color, rotation, added or subtracted elements.
#109 Just in time, here is one with the subtracted elements of the dove and cross, not to disregard the Father, how do you represent Him? Except I added the Light/glow?
I will try an additional color. it seems when I was working with the yellow and white that a cyan or light blue was working good. Personally a few colors will have more visual impact. The yellow definitely does.
I could switch the colors in #101 to the same as in #110 the globe blue and yellow or blue and white in #100 as well as change it back to this san serif font if you like that better.
It is lat and I will be out most of the day tomorrow but will check in the afternoon for your response.
You do not need to worry about tweaking existing suggestions yet with fonts and colors. We will work with that in the next phase. If you have any completely new suggestion tomorrow after you read some of our added comments to the general comment page that would be great. We are hoping for some fresh ideas even if it strays away from currently ranked elements.
I am working on concepts that are representative of your name and per your description with a globe, Use of a simple, approach to the globe but maintain visual clarity for immediate recognition without confusion for long term association You are asking for a logo that is highly recognizable and it is important that it uniquely represents you and not other companies with overused concepts.
#178 The reason we submit multiples of the same concepts is because just one adjustment in color or position of elements can be a radical change for the perfect logo. I can submit a couple of color changes on this one if it looks like it's going in the right direction for you. Represents: "Light of the World", or "Light in a world of darkness"
Tere, Some multiples are fine. I understand that a small change can make all the difference. I am getting better at cleaning them up as we go which helps. I like the newest one (178) that you submitted but others on the team still like your previous one (101). I'd like to try a couple of things with this. Slightly define the left side of the globe as you did the right side. We like a different perspective of the globe which may help as it gives land most of the way around it. We like it as if we are over Europe looking done over the earths tilt. We can see all of Greenland. The edge of US and Canada (North edge of Canada across the top), most or all of South America, all of Africa and most of Asia. I hope that is clear.
We would also like to see this without the cross as the Light communicates the same message but in more subtle way. Let's work the light if you have other ideas.
Oops -- just really looked at it again. North of Canada is not really seen at the top -- Eastern part of North Canada only slight at about 10:00. Only water across the top so you may need to slightly artistically define it with a small yellow part line.
#194 #195 Here are two other views of the earth as your requested. Since there can't be a trace it may not be completely accurate on the continent outlines. One has the yellow drop shadow and one with just blue. If you can find the rotation of the globe the you like and post a link for me here I will try that. But all the references I could not find the perfect one for balance in the negative space so I did use my creative choice to move the continent of N and S America to the center a little :-) I guess that is okay?? Let me know what you think and I can continue to try and achieve your vision for your logo. Thank you Tere
178 and 194. Please finish each with a small (incomplete) highlight to help define the circle in each where the ocean is at the edge. For 178 it is west of South America -- and for 194 it is east of Africa.
Also I miss the yellow highlight on one that is only blue. Your artistic renditions and perspectives are fine. You could reduce the size of Africa slightly I suppose on one and give it tiny more space for Med Sea given size. Pure guesses here.
Maybe stack the type on 3 lines like on #66 as another option. The reason it worked on two lines to the right on the one with the dove is because it was recessed in the emblem. I will try and let you see but I think the whole impact may be lost since everything will need to be reduced in size. You can see the size comparison on # 108 for this same layout. Something to think about, you don't want to lose the impact and visibility on either the globe or your name.
I will be out for a meeting in the morning and will work on this afterwards and should have it uploaded by early afternoon...CST
If I read correctly... #243 is a lighter green and it can't go lighter since with the yellow it is not enough contrast; #242 is even darker green but not legible on the tag line so I left it yellow. With one color small caps on the heading I added a little space to between each word. with the 2 colors on the heading no space is needed since it distinguishes each word.
This may help you steer me in the right direction.
#249 is 242 I accidently dropped the apostrophe and corrected it, #243 #248 These are all the latest submissions with the text horizontal with the globe and stacked under the globe.
Before the contest ends, I just want to make sure that there isn't anything else you would like to see in any of the designs I submitted. Changing colors; fonts, orientation, layout etc. I will be happy to do these.
Since I cannot communicate with you outside of LT until after the contest...if you have time afterwards please post a message to me. Unrelated to the designs. Thank you! Sincerely, Tere
Since I didn't enter the #2 entry in just yellow and white as your first request in your contest brief, would you like to see that as well? It may have more impact that the blue and yellow. I was concentrating only on the direction from your requests and missed that as an option.
