hi Lauren
I'll try to explain to you, but I don't want to create more confusion
usually the designers make the logos using CMYK colors, that fits for screen and for printing
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CMYK_color_modelpantone colors use the CMYK model (btw you heard about pantone colors)
when we send the logo to LT the website reduces the quality and change the model to rgb, so... sometimes there are color variations
but if you work with rgb colors
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RGB_color_modelthe gamma of colors that you can use is bigger, but you can use just for screen
and usually you can use "better" colors, more bright
the other point is that depending of the screen or computer you will see the colors in a different way, like if you print your logo with different printers, the result will be different....
for that I can see my colors in a different way that you can see it
also, usually when I win a contest, after, I send different versions of the logo, cmyk and rgb, ... depends of the logo
usually after the contest you can "work" with your designer and fine-tune the logo working with better resolution files and other systems to choose the right colors
I don't want to give you the idea that the other designers are using rgb colors... as far as I know, logostudio, fernandobranmager and wolv are fantastic designers, and for sure are using cmyk colors and they will help you with the colors if you have some problem... no doubt about that
sorry if my words just cause more confusion.... I know that are a technical issue and obviously sometimes is difficult to handle
anyway... I see that you are a good CH with a lot of communication, and I have not doubt that with any of the other designers you will get the perfect logo
good luck
