Hi Yavuz,

In response to user feedback, the requirements have been modified. We are now actively seeking logos in which a conch shell is the main element. You can also include a human figure blowing the shell, but this is not necessary.

Finally, the logo should be appropriate for a social networking site and suggest human connections or human warmth.

Thanks for all your hard work and patience.

Hi Yavuz,

You can just remove the bamboo on #40 and #41. You also might want to remove the texture on the letter O, but keep the conch shell in the middle.

Thanks!

Regarding #49 and #50. These are nice. Can we see two simple adjustments: One with no flower, and another with the flower beneath instead of above as in #49?

Thanks again (and again and again...)

Regarding #51 and #52. I like them. They seem usable.

There is still time in this design contest, and ideally I'd like to see an entry in which the conch shell is featured more prominently. After seeing so many designs and hearing so much feedback from people, I've decided the Manoga shell should be like the Twitter bird -- the central symbol of the site.

If you like, you could start with the basic design in #51 and #52, but include a big conch shell somewhere so that nobody can miss it. The style should be warm and fun.

Thanks for working so hard in this contest.

Regarding #54, #55, #56, #57, and #58: They look nice, but the problem is that the shell needs to be specifically a big conch shell. Conch shells are the only shells that you can blow through to make a noise. The idea is that the conch shell is going to be used to send out a signal. See conch1.jpg, attached.

Also, only #58 is easy enough to read. Because the name Manoga is new, every single letter needs to be completely clear.

Thanks for your continued efforts.

Regarding #59 and #60. They show two improvements: I like how the conch shell is made bigger, and I like how the color has been made lighter.

My only complaint is that the conch shell looks more like a silhouette of a human face than a conch shell. I actually like the idea of a conch shell suggesting a face very much, but now instead it looks like a face suggesting a conch shell.

I would also like to see a version where the shell is basically the logo, lying on its side instead of standing up as it is now. And I'd like to see "manoga" written on that conch shell.

As always, thank you for your hard work.

Maybe a little more "fun", too, Yavuz. Thanks again.

Regarding #63, #64, and #65, I'm afraid I'm not responding well to the conch shells in these logo designs. Overall the effect strikes me as imbalanced. Also, though I like the chocolate shade of the name "manoga," when the conch shell is simply another shade of brown, I start to have negative feelings about it all. So I'd like to see the conch shell in other colors.

It might also help to know that at some later date after this contest is over, I will hire a cartoon animator to draw a fun character who will pick up the conch shell in the logo and blow it. So the conch should look like something fun that might fit in a cartoon.

Regarding #66, #67, #68, and #69, I'm not sure that it's clear enough that the object is a conch shell. Also, although I like warm colors, I don't want them to be hot. Somewhere between #66 and #68 might be a good level of warmth and intensity.

If you think this idea can work, you can put some sand beneath the shell to help people understand what it is.

Thanks again for your tireless effort, Yavuz. I really appreciate it.

Regarding #67, #68, #69 and #70. These are the colors we use for orange juice containers in the US. It is especially problematic for Manoga because people will think they are seeing "Mango," the fruit.

We are safer with the warm brown and green, and then whatever colors you need to make the conch shell look good.

Thanks again.

Regarding #76 and #77, I'm afraid it's still far too difficult to determine that the object is a conch shell. Because of the color and shape, Americans are likely to interpret the shape as a Thanksgiving Day turkey.

Also the lettering is too heavy for me. I know I requested fun, and you answered here. I guess I would like a more subtle version of fun. <g>

As always, thanks for your terrific effort and work ethic.

Regarding #105: That is a nice illustration! Unfortunately, I cannot use a snail shell because it is not related to the site concept. The only reason that a conch shell is the symbol of the site is that you can blow through it -- to sound a horn, so to speak. You can use the conch shell to communicate with others. (I'm trying not to give away the site concept.)

Also, I'd like a style that is more subtle. As I said above, I guess my idea of fun is more of a calm kind of fun. :-)

Thanks for your continued participation!

Regarding #106: Nice idea. The only problem is that the shell looks almost like a thumb. If you could change the design of the shell so that everyone will recognize it as a big conch shell, that would be great.

Thanks again for all your hard work!

Thanks again Yavuz.

Regarding #114: I like the image. Maybe it looks a little like a shoe now? I have to think about it more.

In the meantime, I would like to inspire you by showing you this collection of images:

Regarding #132. I like this one because you can see what it is, and all of the letters are clear. I think it can be improved if the overall look can suggest more dot.com legitimacy.

Regarding #133: I like the idea, but the design is confusing to the eye. It took me a few moments to understand what I was looking at.

Regarding #134: The same problem with the shape as in #133, but now it's also hard to tell that the letter O is there.

Thanks for your continued participation!

Regarding #135 and #136: I really can't use a green person! People will think it's a monster. <g>

Thanks again!

Regarding #137: No green people, sorry. <g>

Regarding #132: I am thinking that it could also be improved if the shell were slightly more abstracted. A simple picture is easy on the eyes.

Regarding #151 and #157, I prefer the typeface/font on these.

Regarding #138, #151, and #157: Although I like the images when they are big, the mind has much difficulty understanding them when they are smaller. You might want to try a completely different approach. Perhaps the shell doesn't need to be in a small box at all?

Regarding #210, #211, and #212. I really like these colors a lot. My only concern is that people will see not a conch shell but a swirl of water.

Dear Vanya,

First of all i wanna thank u for all your feedbacks from the beginning... I've really worked so hard for this contest and now i'm wondering some of the things:)

U know, there's no face shell info at the brief and u know this is my concept at the first time. It's obvious offbeat will win this contest and it's also so understandable like to work with the number one designer of this site.

I'm just watching this contest and trying to understand what's happening right now...
I've sent at least 80 works for this contest and there was no info about even a shell conch at the first brief. There was only leafs, ivy etc. U as a client've changed the brief totally after my submits and add conch sell. Offbeat came and take the 1st ranked with his abstract concept. It's fair 'cos u like his concept but why r u changin' his original conch shell concept to my face shell concept bit by bit? Maybe they're not look a like at the first look but u know the truth! Face shell is my concept from the beginning:)

Of course u may change your brief again and add shell face this time but d'u think it's ethical? What about my time and effort? Doesn't mean anything to u at all? If u like the face shell why don't u tell me about your opinions and let me to improve my original concept instead of canalizin' to the other designer?
I think u're trying to merge two different concept right now and that's why u've extended the contest. As u know there will be one winner in this contest. U're taking my face shell idea and offbeat's conch shell and combining two different concepts to have a nice logo but it's not really ethical and offbeat know this very well as a professional designer... We will not share the prize money and my idea and works will be just garbage... This is really not fair!

I'm wondering your opinions about this really and waiting for your respond...

Sincerely,
