Discussion

I like the indigenous look and feel. Preference for the sun. Colors are appealing. I like the font except the '&'.

Thanks for putting up some options Ruri. I like the sun better in Entry #8 and the font better in Entry #12. So far, you are the only one with a hint of Ojibwa feel. Thanks for the contributions.

I have mixed feelings about the green / blue intersecting ovals. Are you trying to represent wind? Wind seems like a difficult idea to convey short of using the widely recognized, iconic, three-blade windmill which I do not have strong leanings towards.

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response.
Thanks again for your feedback. I really appreciate it.
Yes. I'm trying to represent the wind on intersecting blue and green parts where it shows how the wind blowing.
And I'm still trying to develop the design to make it more 'recognizable' to represent the wind.
Here is the version as you requested with some mixing color options (#13, #14 & #15).

Best,
Ruri

You are fast Ruri. Thank-you for your numerous contributions. I think the combination of the windmills and sun in Entry #20 will be well received by my board of directors. I quite like it. Entry #19 is more abstract but still conveys both the wind and sun. I like it very much as well. All of your designs have a softness to them that is similar to Ojibwa art.

While #20 is my favorite, I have two reservations. One is that big windmills are moving into our community and the project has been very divisive. Normally friendly neighbours have become very embroiled in fighting "industrial wind". The 3-blade icon of the windmill has in our community unfortunately become a symbol of corporate control and almost symbolic for the fight of local control of renewable resources. Not entirely positive. Two is that the MWSI's focus is on small or residential-scale systems and the windmill image is typically associated with large/industrial systems. Complicated, I know!

I certainly feel comfortable taking your designs to my board of directors so they can provide additional feedback.

Hi,

Thanks again for your feedback.
I'll keep trying to dig more concept on the design based on your request and I'll send you ASAP on my next submission.
Here are some new designs for your consideration (#41 & #42).
And would be appreciated for any feedback.

Thanks for the new entries Ruri. I prefer your earlier submissions both in color choice and soft/flowing tone. #41 looks indigenous but more on the Aztec side which is a long way from Ojibwa indian. I find the colors are too subdued. I'm heading off to bed, so more feedback in about 12 hours when I get into the office.

#49 - a little to vague/abstract Ruri. Going to bed, more feedback tomorrow. Thank-you.

A new design for your consideration (#63 & #64).

Thank-you for the additional designs Ruri. You really pump them out.

The sun/windmill in #63 and #64 doesn't really work. Your most recent designs are moving away from an Objiwa feel which is really critical to include. For example, see the sun in #55 by beezeelogo. This is the closest any one has got to conveying Ojibwa.

I am requesting input from my board of directors now. You have produced some great designs and I will include their feedback when it comes in.

Updating design for your consideration (#70 & #71).

Hello Ruri. I've decided to go with beezeelogo's #110 because he was able to capture many of the traditional ojibwa elements that are recognized by the native culture here. I would like to send you $50 for your contribution to the process and contest. I need an invoice to justify the cost with my employeer. Can you send me an invoice and instructions for how to send the payment. You can email me at: justintilson at gmail dot com.

Hello there,

Thank you very much for your appreciation. And I do really appreciate it.
But, since there is a regulation here about prohibition to make any contact (e.g through private email) between designers and contest holder before the end of the contest, it would be better for me to wait until the contest has ended. After that, I'll be free to discuss about this.
My apologize for this inconvenience. I just want to obey the rules where I 've agreed when I'm join in this community. And I hope you can understand this situation.

Best regards,
Ruri

Of course Ruri. Thank-you for pointing that out. I would like to mark one of your designs as 2nd place but you took them all down. It was the one with the two windmills. Any chance you could put it back up so I can rank it?
