Hi Ed,

Interesting idea!

I typically hate the whole reflection thing but I like the way you're doing kind of a waterline of the boat ripple in the water.

It's a bit tough to read and interpret with the current font, etc. but I assume you already have some ideas to increase its legibility, etc.

Nice job. Keep 'em coming!

Thanks so much and please let me know what you need from me out here,

Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep on coming with variations :)

NICE variations!

I especially like the "movement" in #33.

I know the blue thing works but I can't help but to keep wondering if we can get some more "color" out of this? What other colors would work and will they help excite the viewer or draw people into reading the tag, etc.?

What do you think?

These are coming along really nicely! Thanks again.

What do YOU think? I kind of like the color punch but am I going for a cheap (visual) shot? I'll ask Diana also when she gets home.

Diana nixed the power boat speeding along effect (#81). She's probably right, although us guys like more speed! [smile]

Couple things:

Can you show me what you think you'd do with this (#80) for B&W?

And people often refer to us by our diminutive "MTW" so it would be good to see what you can do with advancing #56.

Yeah, I'm having fun with this also .... you guys have the life!

I can see what Diana means, but don't you think the water still gets affected by sailboats? Not as much as with powerboats but still, you do get some "splish splash" as you sail, right? :)

I'll try #80 in B&W.
Quick question: what exactly do you mean by "advancing #56"?

Cheers, Mark!

hi eddie,

i'm not sure how the logo tournament messaging system works.

i typed in a post this morning on our main tournament page under contest discussion.

do all the designers participating AUTOMATICALLY get a copy of that post? or would each of you have to be checking the general discussion section yourself on-and-off?

just wondering ...

did you get the message?

as an example, i didn't know i had this question (or message) from you here also. the system only tells you about private messages. i better go check everyone's posts right now!

thanks for helping me learn the ropes here!

Hi Mark. I'm sorry to find out myself that you don't get notifications for new messages on each designer's page :S Actually we are notified when YOU post a message on our personal page, but the opposite happens when it comes to the main contest page, when you post we don't get notifications, we do have to check manually.
:S
Yeah, It would be good if you checked each designer's personal page for feedback and whatnot.

I've read the post on the main page, I'll try and come up with another design.

Cheers!

Hi Folks,

I really don't know how this "ranking" and "not interested" metaphor is supposed to work.

But, unfortunately, I think it may mislead someone (and that someone could be you or me) into believing a concept is still alive if it's really not. That and Diana and I are trying not to hurt anyone's feelings. So we're probably leaving too much in the "ranked" column.

Remember, this is all new to us so please forgive our blundering.

Here's what I'd like to do and how you should interpret the next round of sorting:

1. If it's ranked, it's still alive and I assume you are working and improving that design along the lines of what we've either publicly or privately commented. I also assume you are generating new concepts because, so far, NO ONE IS WINNING. We are not satisfied with even the leaders (high rankings) ... otherwise we would have ended the contest earlier versus extending it. Make sense?

2. Otherwise, it's in the "not interested" column. Earlier, crcdesigns explained to me how to re-order everything at the end of the contest so as many people as possible get credits, and the leading designs all get ranked in the appropriate order (see above post). Never fear, I will absolutely do that at the END of the contest.

3. But for now anyway, the ranked entries are too clogged and they also aren't putting enough fire into either of us. Me, to drill down and focus on designs that could win the contest, and you to abandon concepts that shouldn't really be ranked and not competitive ... when bringing forth a new concept would serve you better.

So please do not be insulted when some concepts go quickly into the not interested column. Let's both communicate and focus on the potential winners!

And by the way, thanks once again everyone for all of the hard work and patience you're demonstrating,

So here goes ...

Best, Mark

Let's continue with #80 and it's variations. Can we please see logical extensions and versions for more color, B&W, reverses, etc.?

And Diana and I would really encourage additional concepts from you if you have the time and interest.

Thanks very much, Mark

I'll keep working on developing #80 further. To come up with another concept I'll have to take a little more time, and if I succeed I'll let you know.
Thanks a lot, Mark! Say thanks to Diana too.

Hi Eddie,

We like the #80 concept but still don't really like the logo. Is that weird?

Maybe it's the typeface? I think it's too thin (wimpy) and a bit hard to read. Especially the tag.

What do you think we can do to it?

Better. I'll swap some out and around in the rankings. Keep the juices going for some improvement here.

And how is the "new concept machine" running? [smile]
