I see what you're doing but I think of these logo styles as "decorative" versus "informative."

As an example, both 1800CableTV and DriveDownPrices are good looking but also quickly tell the "story."

Our story needs to be reflected in our logo:

- small, upcoming self-publisher in the boating industry
- provides cruising guides (books that tell you how and where to go in your boat)
- new player (younger, exciting, current information, uses high-tech and innovative methods for data gathering and presentation)

Let's blow this up and try some new ideas altogether!

Thanks, Mark

p.s. A lot of people asked that I don't bin things in the "not interested" column unless they are "horrible. Not a problem, I'll start ranking again ... with low rankings meaning what they mean and our dialog mainly taking place by post. Recognize that I do have a problem in that LT does not tell me when you have posted to this page. I only get notification with a "private message."

So, opened book with compass on the background. Book pages are stylized as water waves.

And a variation, where compass needle also reminds sailboat sheet.

Hi Paull,

I think we're still dealing with too much "white" here. The design has to be more dense and bolder, with more impact. It will be used (small) or large (trade show badging) but at a distance.

Also, a discernible sailboat or powerboat is trouble. Our demographic is about 50/50 and they hate each other. [wink]

Still looking for a BoxBoss or DriveDown Prices density, boldness, and as part of the logo, a graphic stamp we can use as a publisher's mark.

I posted some comments last night and this morning on the contest's main page that I think are helping some folks. You may want to check that out.

I hope this helps. And please don't give up on us. We're not even close to picking a winner yet ... so keep those brain cells churning and those great design concepts coming!
