I like the attempt.
I need to be less of a distraction away from the lettering.

Can you figure out how to seamlessly incorporate to work with the text?

As it stands, it's COMPETING with the text. It needs to WORK WITH the text.

Keep only the outline of the nib. Remove all the inner lines.
