This is very creative design. You do great work. I need sometime to consider your new designs with my wife. I asked for the selection to be extended a few days to make our final conclusion. In the mean time, vertigo has a design that they would like to submit, so I am going to move them to the 1st place for the time being. Thanks Scott.
how the design came about was re-doing the sailboat mug you liked, I did have the sail shape above but it looked to obstrusive...a wee bit later while trying to figure out the sail the shape screamed fish..
the small swoosh shape in the letter O is not a problem I had done this in blind phase...so I can use whatever I had done in blind at anytime.
The light house pier is obvoiusly a fishing spot. Rather than a an abstract sailboat coffee cup how about an abstract coffee mug fish. The design has that minimalist artisan look and feel

I've have a solution for the coffeee cup sail boat. If yu would liek to see let me know, but you iwll need to move me to first place in order to upload.
Scott, this one is really great. The font is perfect for the symbol. As I shared earlier, we are torn and need some time to evaluate. I am going to move you to 2nd for the time being to get some final touches on vertigo's logo and hope to make a final decision in a day or two. The logo above looks great and I don't have any suggestions to make it better. Thanks for your patience. I will be in touch.
Hi Scott, thanks for all of the amazing work so far. Just wanted to give you an update. We are still very torn as to what logo and design we like best. We have you 1st right now and really like the sailboat bean, but we still need time to make a final decision. We sent out a final survey to get some more feedback from our customers about an hour ago. There feedback is helpful, but it is our decision. We just feel torn right now and want to get it right. We still really like the logo above as one of our top 2. The one area that you could do a little adjustment is on the font. We really like the layout of the words and the font is very close, but it is just a little too simple. Could you look at a similar text layout, but a slightly different font, maybe a tiny bit bolder. As I said, we hope to make the text into a stamp and were hoping for something with a little more artisan/hip feel to it.
This is the downside of Crowd Sourcing, try to anticipate what CH (contest holders) want and what other design will upload.
Contest rarely go by the project brief, and not being able to have a one on one discussion to wrok ona desing strategy crowdsoring is the opposite.
Trying to type out what we both want gets lost in translation. Messaging is not a conversation and is no substitue for discussion a project over the phone or in person.
This is the way thing are now with design, most Design Firms use crowd sourcing their clients just don't know it.
Looks great! I have one more suggestion. Could you do the bottom of the bean and the word coffee this medium dark brown, and change the top part of the bean and Ludington to a rich blue like the sky? That may look bad, but was thinking the sailboat having the blue sky behind might look cool.
That makes sense. We are wrestling with that idea as well. The coffee cup is more for a cafe for sure. The one thing we like about the cup is the subtle green accent, which hits at freshness. Your above logo is great as it brings together our town and a coffee bean, which is perfect. For my wife, she doesn't like the colors. Could you try some little changes in the current colors and one bold change in the colors for the above logo? I know we can work on nailing that down more later, which we will, but it would help us make a decision to see some color changes beforehand.
question why does you company need a coffee mug or bean...the comapny name says exactly what you do. a coffee mug says you are a coffee cafe nopt a roaster...and if I may your group of people evelauting are thinking coffeee shop not a roasting company., does this make sense.
I'll see wjhat I can do about making the bean look more like a bean if that possible.
The one little area of feedback that we have received is people didn't know it was a coffee bean. I suppose there will always be some people who don't catch that, and that is fine. I don't know what you could do to make it more like a coffee bean. It looks great with the simple design that you have now, but that is one little bit of feedback that we received. On the flip side, we have some people who really love it. We like it really like it as well. But having it stand on its own is one little concern of ours.
To completely honest, we are very torn. We very much like the creativity of the coffee bean, sailboat, and wave that you got here. In our surveys with friends and customers, this one is right a the top, lots of people really love it. We are having a hard time making a decision. I hate to ask for more work, you have done so much already. But it would help us make a decision if we could see this logo without color. We would like the logo to have the ability to be made into a stamp on our kraft bags and would like to see what it looks like in black and white.
There are generci design, nothing wrong withg those it's how creative an individual is wiht a generic. For example Real Estate logos roof line, houses, doors windows keys etc are all industry standard elements.
Smae applies to coffee logos, bean, cups, wishs of vapor, leaves etc.
Being creative with these elments is key to a successfull design. As much as I like the sail boat logo. It woudl be a huge issue for you, LT and me.
I've uplaoded anew desing with sail boat inside the cup of coffee it needs work the boat is too technical bu tneed to get it uplaoded before some one else does.
I think it is clear that you are doing original work in your stuff. I am not experienced enough to see if others are just using pre-made work. I think I can tell on some of them, but not all.
Ok, I understand. You mentioned doing a google search for coffee cup logo. I did. I didn't see anything that matched what is submitted, but maybe I am not looking close enough. Would you be willing to share which logo/design that you think is in violation of infringement? Again, I have no idea how that all works.
Sorry, but I don't like it as much. Here is my question. I looked at the Superior design that you say is too close, but I don't understand why? What is coming out of their mug is not clearly a sailboat at all. It could be seen as aromas wafting out of the cup. I don't know, I just really liked your original. It was very simple and creative.
this is throback to a by gone era, no internet, rotary dial phones, kids play oputside for real. home made boars from what ever they coudl use and a piece of paper for a sail. Think Normal Rockwell
Ok, I don't know how all of this works. I don't how you would decide if the design is too close. You design didn't look anything like the link above. The only similarity was as an idea of combining a sailboat and cup. But if you think that would get you in trouble, I would differ to your experience and judgment. It's too bad, because like I said, we have gotten some good feedback from it and it was in our top 2.
I think I just figured out what happened. I just checked my emails and saw your message. I have been at work today and haven't been able to consider new entries. We have family members that we have given our login information and who have been checking into the logos. I hadn't seen any of your new logos even though it might have said I had, but it was probably someone in my family who was logged in. I have been at work all day and just looked at them now. My wife was also looking at them, but I try to talk with her first when I get home before we rank new logos. I apologize for the confusion. The new coffee cup bean is cool and all, but I told you that we really liked the sailboat and there wasn't any more you could do. But you continued to make more designs. I didn't ask for that. It's up to you what to do now, but I really wanted to include the sailboat design in our survey that we were going to send out this afternoon.
I was just about to give send out a survey to our customers and I was looking forward to hearing their feedback on it. But now it is gone and I can't do that. I am sorry if we have miscommunicated in any way. This is our first time doing this and we don't know there is a certain etiquette in how to go about everything. But in the end, the sailboat mug was on of our top choices and we still like the option to consider it.
I think we are good for the moment. We are putting together a survey to send our to our customers and friends. There many already that like the creativity and simplicity of your design. I will let you know if I can think of suggestions. But right now, we really like the overall design and are planning to see how others respond. Thanks Scott, you have been awesome to work with.
Scott, we keep coming back to the simplicity of this logo and are getting a lot of great comments from friends. Could you take out the non-distressed look to it and sharpen it up a little. We like the colors, just want to see what it looks without the distressed look. Thanks so much!
I've uplaod 4 font variation and updated brown. At this stagge color is not overly important because colros can be adjsut after a contest is over.
I alwasy find it best to make these types of edits afterwards. This ay we can have direct conversation either by phone or skype. Something we cannot do while the contest is active.
Scott, could you also try a different font or two in this logo? The font you have is not bad, but it seems to modern. A font with more artisan/craft feel to it. Maybe a little thicker. I don't know fonts well, so sorry I am not much help. Thank you!
Sorry Scott for not being in touch. Yesterday was very busy and I wasn't able to be in touch. In sharing with others, we have a lot of people that like the cup/sailboat image. Your designs have been great! My wife really liked the creativity of the coffee bean on fire. We will be in touch with more feedback soon and plan to be active in giving more feedback over the next 2 days. You rock!
Scott, this one is growing on me a lot. I like the coffee cup/sail boat integration you got going on a lot. Could you do this logo in a black and white look? We use brown kraft bags and are looking possibly at using a stamp for the logo.
Yes, I am open to that. As you can see, we are new to this and still wrestling with the name and branding. Our business is 8 months old and we have just been focusing on producing great tasting coffee, which has been going well. But this is our first step into the branding and marketing and we are open to ideas like this. I will talk with my wife and get her input and let you know if we want to keep the word coffee or are open to something like this. Thanks Scott for your professionalism. You have been great to work with.
Hey Scott, I updated our contest description. My wife convinced me that the lighthouse was not a good idea for us. I thought it was, but it is very over-used image and we are seeking to be a artisan/craft business. I apologize for the the time wasted with the lighthouse designs. Your lighthouse design was our favorite, but the lighthouse as a whole didn't capture what we wanted as a new artisan/craft start up. Thanks for your understanding. I am sorry for the change. Check out our new description.
Wow, very cool! I really like the colors and fonts. I continue to like the roasting company tucked underneath Ludington and beside Coffee. There is a great simplicity and enduring look to this. At the moment, we are not opening a cafe. We are strictly a coffee roasting business and are selling wholesale to local restaurants and individuals. Our original name has been Ludington Coffee Co. But we added Roasting to make it more clear what exactly we do. Hopefully that makes sense. Your designs have been fantastic.
I like it! I like the shading on the bottom of the lighthouse. Could you try adding back the wave? Maybe it won't work. I just like how it unifies the logo. Anyway you can give the text a distressed look?
The input I am getting from friends, your logo is at the top. Everyone likes your lighthouse design. Could we a different sans serif font, possibly Nexa Bold. I like the distressed look. I still like the wave as it ties it together. The bottom block in some of your new ones is neat, but it feels like an add on. If you could make that bottom block look cool and the words "Roasting Company" to stand out more, that would be great. Thanks so much for the work you are putting in. Your design concept is our favorite right now and I think is just a matter if dialing it in more, which we can do over the next few days.
Thanks Scott. My wife and I are still liking this one the best. The water design isn't our favorite, but we like how it unifies the text and the lighthouse. If you can try some other things. I saw your other font changes. Nothing jumps out yet, but I will keep looking and trying to give feedback. So far, your concept design is our most favorite.
with font change comes layout updates. Teh aspect ratio of this font is more squart than the previous. Teh word coffee at the samne font size is too small in relation to the town name.
I really like the layout of this logo. Could you change the font? I like a masculine font like you have. But it is a little too big and tall. If the font could be a little shorter, but maintain the masculine look. I like how roasting company is located in the logo. That is cool. This is one of our favorites so far.
This is a very cool look and start. I like the idea of the wave thing underneath the logo, but could you try to make it look a little more like water. I think that is the idea. I like the direction of the masculine type font, but could you try a similar, but different font. Related to my comments on colors, looking for something that pops and is clean.
I like this design with the banner at the bottom. Could you bring in some more colors like black, white, and some blue or green. I am looking for clean look that pops with some bright colors.
I really like the start of this design. Could you bring in a little more color to the lighthouse and the words. I like a clean look with some colors that pop.

It has the same minimalist artisian look and feel as the fish version.

the small swoosh shape in the letter O is not a problem I had done this in blind phase...so I can use whatever I had done in blind at anytime.

If I keep tha tup someone will find it and take me to LC (LC is logo court an internal system to govern desingers and subission.
I always police my own work and I had diswcovered this possible conflict. Very few LT members do what I do and hope they do not get caught.
It's the right decison not to re-uplaod for your proterct and mine.
I suggest doing a google search for coffee cup logos

This will work as singage and if I may suggest an etch sign in wood. It will look awesome and over time will age and look even more cool!
