Comment Activity ingrid commented on #99 Withdrawn Oh, I thought so.. no problem :) Just posted a new entry and will submit a version with a woman shortly, just need to do a few tweaks. 7 years ago localincuba commented on #99 Withdrawn sorry - guess I don't have a full understanding of how this works. I knew you would be sending another one - I would still like to see it, please and thanks. 7 years ago ingrid commented on #99 Withdrawn I noticed you eliminated my design which is perfectly understandable, but the site won't allow me to upload any more entries unless I'm ranked in the first few - so if you'd still like to see another version with the specifics you've mentioned above, you can temporarily rank me back in the top 5, however if you've already chosen one than that's totally fine. Just wanted to let you know in case you're expecting another entry from me. 7 years ago ingrid commented on #99 Withdrawn Thanks so much for your feedback, I'll try another version with a drummer facing forward, and a dancing woman as well and see how that goes. Appreciate the direction and I do hope you find what you're looking for in the end. 7 years ago localincuba commented on #99 Withdrawn Thanks for the changes. I prefer to see the drummer from the front rather than his back. And maybe try a version with a female dancer in place of the drummer. I like the overall feel of this design - it's full of life and movement like the Cuban people. I think I prefer the lighter font to be pure white instead of light blue-grey. I'm still not sure how to incorporate the Cuban flag. Maybe we don't - maybe just the colors and somehow a white star somewhere. At this point, I'm most concerned about the image itself - of either the drummer or the dancer. I think everything else is just a minor alteration. 7 years ago ingrid commented on #99 Withdrawn Is this more of what you were thinking? I was working on one with a woman dancing but didn't want to finish until I knew you liked this concept. Of course any changes are always welcome, thanks again for your feedback on everything. 7 years ago ingrid commented on #20 Withdrawn Thanks for letting me know, almost finished with the new revisions so I'll edit the colors for sure. 7 years ago localincuba commented on #20 Withdrawn think I've changed my mind on the colors - I think I want to incorporate the colors of the Cuban flag. Still want charcoal, but blue and red need to be a part of it. 7 years ago localincuba commented on #20 Withdrawn Yes of course - I understand. 7 years ago ingrid commented on #20 Withdrawn So sorry for the delay in my response, tyere was somewhere I had to be this morning and haven't had a chance to work on this. Can I submit revisions tonight? Still interested in working on this, will definitely have something submitted shortly :) thanks for all the info! 7 years ago localincuba commented on #20 Withdrawn Sorry - just noticed the file numbers display differently on my end. Try 43886 and 43873. 7 years ago localincuba commented on #20 Withdrawn Not sure if you're still with me. I would still like to see a revision on your image of the dancers. Check out my photo 4429 - rumba dancers usually dance side by side...this photo is of Grupo AfroCuba rehearsing. I hope that helps. 7 years ago localincuba commented on #20 Withdrawn Hi Ingrid - just wondering if you are still interested in submitting a revision including a new visual for the dancers. 7 years ago localincuba commented on #20 Withdrawn check out IMG 3121 7 years ago localincuba commented on #20 Withdrawn Okay - this is closer to what I'm thinking for sure. I like the way the slogan wraps around the circle, and removing all of the silhouettes definately cleaned it up and simplified - it has a lot more impact now. The dancers aren't quite right -- they look more like they're going to the club instead of dancing in the street at midnight to the beat of live drums. The music notes can go (I think). I like the quality of the line drawings of the dancers though. I'm not sure how to communicate more of a rumba look to you. Maybe it should be a stylized drawing of the guy on the drums in one of my photos - of the two guys sitting next to each other and they each have a bata drum. 7 years ago ingrid commented on #8 Withdrawn Thanks again for the additional info, just posted a revision, more simplistic, hoping it's more on track of what you're looking for. If not though, tweaks are always welcome. 7 years ago localincuba commented on #8 Withdrawn No problem Ingrid -- thanks for your response. Yes I would eliminate the dominoes altogether and just focus on the couple dancing. Rumba in the streets of Cuba is very different from what we see on TV but if you search it on youtube, you'll get a good sense of the primal nature of it. So the dancers shouldn't look all elegant, or as though they're dressed up for salsa. 7 years ago ingrid commented on #8 Withdrawn Thanks so much for your detailed reply! I noticed you uploaded those photos after I had worked on the design so I did realize that the silhouttes I created were probably not suitable, definitely more like tourists partying, oops :) I'll omit that part of the design and focus more on what you just mentioned. Would you like the dice eliminated altogether? I'm not familiar with dominoes so when I looked it up I noticed dice I thought that would be enough to represent the game. I'll try a line drawing of a couple or a woman dancing.. for sure! Thanks again for your kind comments and feedback :) 7 years ago localincuba commented on #8 Withdrawn Thanks for your submission! I really love the energy - I love the circle with the name inside, the font style, and the fact that you have used the aqua color for the 'Cuba' part of the name. I think the colors themselves are good too -- the right shade of charcoal, and I like the aqua. You've included dice as an image, but dominoes is the game played by the locals. And the silhouettes of people boozing it up is more about tourists and resorts than about what we are doing there. Locals playing drums and dancing rumba in the streets, playing dominoes on the corner in their neighbourhoods, the religion of Santeria - these are the elements I'm looking for. I think the speaker and music notes are extraneous and distract from the great stuff happening inside the circle. In fact, I like the circle so much, maybe there is a way to eliminate the stuff going on outside of it altogether and just focus on maybe including a line drawing of a rumba drummer or a couple dancing rumba inside the circle, maybe that would work. The other interesting thing is, I didn't really want the slogan to be included in the logo (I thought I included that in my notes but I can see now that I didn't so I apologize) however, I like how you have incorporated it. So I would leave it in. 7 years ago
