so make one with both sides solid and gray. make a second with a gray box like the one on the left. the box may frame the poppy and another with the box framing the whole logo - poppy and text in gray.

I like the gray and orange together good choice of colors

Humm... Something still not working.... try something different. maybe gray box on both sides of the poppy or a border around the poppy in gray. One side feels unbalanced. or maybe a box around ALL in gray?

Cool. Can you separate the CA poppy into a standalone outside of the text? In a circle in a square? Keep the text modern and masculine.
