if you would like to see variations on any of my entries (colors, fonts, adjustments to form, additions/subtractions or for that matter just suggestions) please feel free to request. Happy to do.
thanks

c;

nicely done. thoughts in no particular order:

I think matching the colors on 33 for the "A" helps the "A" stand out better, helps the logo be less confusing.

I like the dark blue of 28 for the font

Don't like the star on 28...too plain.

I am mixed on the rocket in 32....like the rocket idea, also like the "fun" side of the rocket you've chosen, but either provides good contrast to, or conflicts with the high tech font. It would be good to see an edgier rocket to compare (like 22's rocket )

Like the star on 33....would be interested in seeing other stars (smaller with larger rays, smaller,)

Like the subtle power of 30. Very classy. Probably not edgy enough.

want to convey edge, excitement, risk, power, adventure. You are getting there.

Some other ideas;

33 is the favorite....would like to try blending some of the look of 32: Try to get the darker blue of the earth into the curve of 33...use dark blue for the "A" then a white star like the sun coming up, or a yellow star, or a sun just peeking over the blue of the earth

Thanks!

Logo Designer
scott, are 46 and/or 47 going in the right direction for this one?

50 has both ends of the swoop tapered so that it looks more like the edge of a sphere/earth

Very nice! How do you learn to do this right-brain stuff?

I like the double swoop of 50....makes the sphere clear

I like the sun rising over the edge of 47

The at the edge of 50 is slightly obscured, not sure if that was intentional.

Would like to try a couple of things if you are game:

-Colors,

-Try 50 with; a lighter LED (the reflective gunmetal of 48, the light blue of 33,
-Try 50 with the color of the "A" being the darker blue of 30
-I'm uploading some iconic shots of sunrise from space. if there is a way to convey this more powerful sunrise (possibly with a different color sun, other/sun planet color matches, that could be great.

Have at it!

Could you also try one of them with

Lead From The Edge vs. Lead At The Edge

Thanks

scott, happy to do the above. Can you upload a pdf of the doc you just uploaded. I recently had to replace the drive on my computer and have had issues with my microsoft office since and haven't had time to go through the phone process.... Or i could go to the nasa images page or google images, but since you liked the ones you have, would be good to be able to view those specific images....just let me know. Thanks. Appreciated.

scott, happy to play with this some more, but won't be able to do it until later tonight. (another note: since this is a competition, when uploading ideas to a certain designer for progression of a design, please send links to images and comments on the design in the designer's private comment areas, since uploading them in the common area sort of gives the ideas to competing designers as well, It's hard to tell that they are part of a discussion with a certain designer or a part of the original brief. (you've been great about commenting directly to individual designers re: their designs, but that later upload creates confusion). Thanks. :-)

Appreciate all of your feedback and direction. Please get as specific as you want. Happy to do .

Scott, just uploaded a version of 84 using from the edge. (almost forgot that you wanted to see how that would fit. :)

Back on-line. Really like what you are doing. Here are a couple of ideas to refine further;

The other one we are looking at it is issues design (#62)

Here are a couple of things to try:

#85 and has the ideal sun coming up over earth...tough part is the larger diameter helps, but also, it is the thin, two color sunrise, which matches what it looks like from space. If there was a way to incorporate this look into your logo, that would be interesting...Not sure if it works, but sunrise in space is a combination of white sun, blue, and also a very thin strip of orange.

Like the "from the edge", gets a bit small font wise...but that could be OK.

I like the blue of 81, would like to see that for the "A" also.

Would like to see it with some stars, as in 62, but not sure how that will work.

It's likely between you and "issues". Really like what you are doing

Thanks

Scott, appreciate the input and direction and will work on trying to create more of the authentic space look on the rise issue. I think you to achieve this i will need to thin out considerable thet curve part. I have been considering that but was worried about what it would do in regard to the cohesiveness of the A. But i think maybe if i shift the reflection part more to the center of the curve it might help. (The thinness of the curve also allows more of the contrast and less of a hard line.Since, as discussed earlier, i can't get a closeup vision of what the word document contained, i will go ahead and pull some other shots from google or nasa for reference and try to tighten the reality instead of going full blast for keeping the quality/consistency of the A. I had started heading that direction by including a thin white line at the edge and trying to feather the opposite side of the swoop/earthline on the A, and in a couple adding some of the orange, but I kept the sun spot a little larger as well because of the width of the swoop. But, let me play a little more with the thinness as well. I was also a bit hesitant because originally when talking about the type of logo you wanted you had said you had liked the quality of 30 or 31, but worried it didn't have enough of an "edge" to it. (Like the subtle power of 30. Very classy. Probably not edgy enough.) I guess i may have interpreted that as not being clean/hard enough, but i may have totally misinterpreted.

Since the stars were in also reference already with the photos and direction already supplied, i . I can do that as well, (but need you not to refer to specific designers work or who it's between--not really allowed).

I would also ask how you will be using this logo? I assume it will always be on a black back, but in regard to shape/size/space, will it always take up the same kind of size/dimension/proportion as we are looking at here in it's usage, or should i try to keep the number of stars to a couple and keep it fairly close to the type.

Again, thanks for the feedback. Appreciate you working with me. I just checked in this morning to see where this presently stood. I will probably not be able to get any new entries until this afternoon at earliest because of time issues with another project, but don't give up on me. :)

scott, just a quick note. just started working on the changes. just moving the flare more toward the center of the swoop is an improvement.

will be able to work on it more a little later tonight. in process though--trying a few different ideas on how to handle the sunrise on the a swoop and still maintain the A as an a. don't want to upload until i get it just how i want it though. Probably later tonight.

Hope your day is going well.

so, the new ones i think still hold the presence of the a, it helped the look of the sunrise to thin out the line and i tried to shadow the other part of the a to still maintain the shape but maybe let the sunrise area hold it's own a little more as well. Didn't want to go any thinner.

c;

These really are great...well done. I'm not sure there is too much more to tweak, but will look this morning. Frankly, it is between you and issues. Both are great. Family is split as to which to go with! If I can think of anything else to give you and edge, I will.

i did make some minor adjustments and replaced the last couple of entries from ones uploaded last night. New are 109-111. (this also includes one with the from the edge in orange). And tried to make the orange part of the sliver a little more prominent and in the bottom part of the glow, while also trying to keep the white strobe effect eminating from that area intense.

Logo Designer
ps: and entry 112 might give you more versatility in that you could use it by putting it on an all black background (the black border line would then disappear.) or be an option to use it in other ways (stickers, badges coffee cups, etc.) This same method could be used if you like the one without the stars, the orange type or without the extra borderline.

Logo Designer
pps: 114 might even be a bit more versatile, since on 112 if you put it on a color background other than black would have to put a white oval behind it to maintain the white border in the design (which isn't at all hard to do, of course). on 114, you could either choose to do that or not. Also, either of these could easily include a shadow below as per the effect on 114.

Just a note that i included these, because that is one thing that always worries me a bit about any logo design sitting on a solid background of black, since there are times you will probably not find a big solid black rectangular back very workable for what you are doing, especially things like mentioned above or every applications (letterhead etc.) And wording and or line or special effects will often looks different if you were to take all of the the black background completely out. Just something to consider.

Thanks for all your help, direction and positive thoughts.

OK, C, We are almost there!

Circling back:

Design of #80; (with At the Edge, thicker earth to make the A more apparent) as basis.

Star from # 80 and star from #87 (would like to see each)

Color of A to have a bit more deep blue punch; (like the Blue of 28)

Not sure if its possible, but the metal look of the "A" in 80....can that be done in the blue? (basically, more "movement" to the color of the font)

No stars; a bit too busy

A treatment included for the oval.

Appreciate you being willing to polish the apple! If you can provide the above. I'll be able to pick the final design!

scott, happy to do.

one clarification. under where you put no stars; a bit too busy: you say A treament included for the oval, does that mean you want to see each of those new variations also with an oval? or no oval will be used?

Thanks again for direction.

c;

We are done! I've run you around enough. Seeing 115-117, I'm circling back a bit to an earlier design

finished version:

#110 with "at the edge" vs. "from the edge".

no stars

Same colors as 110, same earth, safe everything except for title

A treatment both in the oval and in the black space.

I'm not quite sure how I "choose", but once that is up I will choose that design.

Well played!

(btw, where are you located and what the heck are you doing up at 3 am?)

118 and 119 are up. If you declare one of them the winner, after you approve the final files i will upload, i can get the other version (whichever you choose, full back or oval) to you.

I'm from Portland, OR. (I know :-)....gotten to bed mostly at 4 and 5 am lately......got some things going on that has made me a bit of an insomniac.)

little note re: oval. My brother (who used to work at Nasa Ames) used to bring home Mission stickers that (the ones i saw anyway) were oval.

yup...that's what that reminded me of. All those stickers and badges!

OK...I'm going with black background, you can find me pretty easily by googling scott tibbitts or using an address using my first name with the domain name katasi

Thanks for all the help with this!

thought you probably had seen them.

Thanks for the win! I have sent a private message re: approval process. Once approved will get you the other files. (once approved send me your private email by private message for me to send those files. LT only has a place to upload the eps and jpg of the winning logo).
