or i could try adding a contour around the logo , with grass background , which could be placed against any color background, sort of emblem type .

first you have to know the background itself is not part of the logo . only wanted to show the logo on a green surface.
i can try working a sort of cartoon grass as indicated, well, without copying it of course :) .
I may need a little .
