Hey - I think you're going to be the winner. Once I declare a winner, how does that process work? We are going to need a print-ready logo by the end of the day? What time-zone are you in, if we need any last minute modifications?

Yes, so how about a slightly smaller red L which allows a bit more of the fountain pen tip to be shown, so that it is more clear that that's what it is, in other words a more narrow point at the top of the box. Also on your "straight version of it" entry

I really like this - though we need it to be portrait, not landscape. Also, I'm wondering if it would still work if the L / quill could be tilted slightly to the right?

Very interesting - we've moved away from the gavel idea, but this is intriguing, so I'm going to leave it in the ranked list, near the bottom, for now.
