Was thinking in the wee-small-hours of the morning that maybe I need to go to a white background rather than the darker (even though I've been saying darker all along) as its just not popping out at me.
Princess Mary of Denmark visited Australia recently, please refer the the website below (and look at picture no.2) for an inspiration of colour palette - her shirt jade green/blue-green, neutral with accents of chocolate and orange - I absolutely love this colour combination but feel a white background will probably work best with the logo coloured.

Maybe some kind of semi-abstract design (floral, etc) that you still see the 'i' and 'c' when you take a good look?!??
Put logo in a square or diamond, OK it protrudes out. Don't want anything too busy. But want it to be eye catching.
