I took the obvious compass idea and added an arrow to the 'G', as if someone is following their path thanks to GTJ. The icon can stand alone on its own, or it can be supported by words like this: #24, #25. I also included how nice it would look on darker media as well: #26, #27.
Just curious: is the 'No Red' rule so that no one will ever tie GTJ to the Georgia Bulldogs instead? ;) That is smart thinking!
The icon itself would obviously fit best on your website space, but we could use the full-on text versions in other areas and for things such as letterheads, website banners, etc.
I will see what other ideas I can come up with as well!
This is great! Thank you! I especially like #27. I like this direction... The initiative is essentially about students developing apps for their peers to enhance their GT experience, to help them navigate their GT "journey". A compass is a good representation of "navigation" however what you've got reads a bit more like a sunburst than a compass, perhaps making the cardinal directions (NSEW) longer than the mid-points (NE,SE,SW,NW) would clarify the concept.
More generally, we really want to focus on the idea that this program is about new technology (apps) so modernizing the compass would help communicate that.
