Good entry in such a short time. It helps me realize I've been picturing a logo-followed-by-text design. I like that you've embraced the aviation theme, but it should probably take a more secondary position to the digital/database (often symbolized with a tuna-can cylinder)/information-technology core business.

It also makes me think more about how smart a blue-gold combo really is. Maybe just blue with a subtle gold accent would better. Colors originally come more from being based in Ann Arbor, Michigan (the University of Michigan, which uses maize and blue). I think a darker, almost navy blue might work better.

What would "digital gears" look like?

I'm also warming up to "solutio ex machina", I would be interested in designs that incorporated that instead of the woefully stale "expert information blah blah blah"

Interesting logo, but looks like it's going to grind something up. Maybe good for some other business, but doesn't really say anything about information systems to me.

#20 is a surprising leap ahead. I had sort of given up on this theme, but in a wild stroke of random chance, you have also happened to ensnare my sailboarding. Maybe try it as a left-to-right design with a more techie-looking font (see other favorites as a guide).

Random thought: airplane only has three blades, but the gear-feel of the logo breaks down with only three. How about a three-blade version of #20, on top of a copy rotated 60 degrees (but opaque in the center so only three show)?

#42 is a little too busy, and #53 is a little too "flowery". But both #53 and #51 have potential without the yellow "petals". Maybe #51, with the yellow petals squared off (so they make one big triangle, inscribed by the inner circle), and change the color to the same blues as the inner wheel, but alternating so each section has an implied boundary. Or you could stall a little, and see what comes out of the wash. We're only on day 2 :)

#69 has good simplicity, but only touches on the tangential aviation theme. Also still a little flowery for this side of the "masculine" bar. I think your #54 is about as far as this trail leads, FWIW. (I would expand the circle to exactly inscribe the triangle, but it most likely still wouldn't push it into the top 5)

I'm all about the gears now. What could be more masculine? :)

#114 The sweeps have the unfortunate effect of making it look like the viewer is on the business end of a drill bit :)

Otherwise this entry is going much more in the right direction, although the mechanization aspect is a little too subtle in this case.
