Discussion

I like the clean semi-script font used in "Illinois Valley", I wonder about the font for "Daily View", but I'm not sure why I wonder about it, possibly the stark contrast between the negative/positive space, hmmm, thinking about it. I also wonder if the web url should be one of the same family as the other two?

on "Daily View" a sans-serif font looks better, can you try another sans-serif font variation? I wonder if you can make "daily View" larger and more prominent, and "Illinois Valley" smaller?

One design style that I like the style of is NewYorkPost.com, that flavor, bold, clean, though maybe not italicized?

Something more like this ?

better, though now the red is reeeeally strong, I wonder if there's a way to make it easier on the eyes, maybe an opacity? I guess that might turn it pink, dunno. Can you make the URL white background with several px border of black similar to Daily View area, with black text?

BTW, what font is the "Illinois Valley" in?

Also, I like the "Daily View" font, what is that?

also, can you put a slight drop shadow on "Illinois Valley"? I think it might add some depth to it a little?

I've tried to tone down the red a little bit - the fonts are called 'Lobster' - its actually designed by one of the other designers on this website ... and the others are both Futura Bold and Light - but I created the 3D box effect myself.

can you do more of a drop shadow on "Illinois Valley", also is there a way to tone down the red a little bit more, it's improving. Also, I'm still not convinced about Futura, is there another sans-serif font that looks good? I'm looking at variations of HelveticaNeue Extended, but maybe others in the Helvetica family, and a similar font in that same family for the url? I'm still open, but something less Futura-y?

this is one of my favourite sans serif fonts - its called 'Prelo' which has a very interesting meaning in relation to your business (a nice tie-in) it means 'printing press' in portuguese. thought you might enjoy a little hidden meaning in the font selection ...

This one is Helvetica Condensed.

I like the font style on the url, though it's a little too condensed to fill the space. "Daily View" seems like it should have a bolder look to it, thicker characters, but with more kerning between the characters, it needs a bit more "white space" and more depth to the black shadow.

the url looks good, though maybe put a littttttle bit more kerning, I'm not quite settled on the font/style of "daily view" for some reason, don't know why, maybe drop it a couple point sizes and increase the kerning a bit for more white space? Basically fiddle with it. I "think" I like the while "illinois Valley" text, not 100% sure, but just do whichever you like best, white fill vs black fill

can you try allcaps for "DAILY VIEW" and see what that looks like? I think it might look a bit better

I like #12, not sure about #13, still looking at it. I think on #12 the "Daily view" looks better in allcaps, there's still something I don't quite like about it, maybe a font weight/shaddow/size, not really sure, but I think the rest of the design is done, that's the only thing I haven't quite got my head around totally.

I love this in all caps - Avante Garde

Yeah, me too, is there a slightly thicker font weight?

Can you make the red box a little wider to match the new font, extend the kerning on the url,, make DAILY VIEW 2 points larger and make "VIEW" font black and see how it looks?

I also wonder about Impact as a font, that's what's used in the #2 ranked entry.
