Here is his exact note (we don't have to do it if it's lots of work or if you think that it's a dumb idea):
Can we see it with the house and capital building reversed in terms of their size? Seems easy enough to make that tweak so we can see what it looks like?
If the capital building’s size doesn’t change, I like this version better because the bottom half of the capital building is shaded gray and doesn’t stand out as prominently as it did in the prior version. However, it’s still the same size as it was in the last version circulated and I personally still think the house should be larger than the capital building or at least closer to the same size if the capital building is going to be larger than the house (although I recognize that a size discrepancy is probably good for aesthetic purposes). I see the capital building in 3 sections here. Maybe we could shave off 1/3 to 2/3 of the “bottom” section of the capital building to reduce the size by 20% and make the bottom section basically just a smidge larger than the “middle” section?
My crew is really liking this one. I do have a good volunteer that would like to see the capitol and house reversed. I don't think that it will look good, but if it's not too hard for you to do, just flip them so the capitol is more prominent. Any other ideas that you might have to finalize it out?
I don't see much of a difference. What if you made the blue portion of the capitol the grey like in your Home Builders Association? Maybe a little less tall too, it's so strong, but it's not far off either.
I sent it out to several of my volunteers and everyone is coming back with the capitol is too heavy. If you can dial that in, this will be the winner. Thanks!
This is really close, but that capitol is almost a little too church like, or I see a silo too. Do you have any other capitol building peaks to work with? If not, this is really close.
I think they're going to like this idea. The capitol seems so heavy though - have anything that could lighten it up? The Iowa capitol dome has like portholes in it rather than windows, but we're on the right track.
Hey there,
I love this the way it is, but had some volunteers chime in on an idea to swap out the tall buildings in the back with a capitol building. We are involved heavily politically, so that's not such a bad idea. An outline of the Iowa capitol would be ideal, but I haven't looked around to see what there might be out there. Iowa's capitol building has a gold dome too, so that might be fun to throw in the mix. Thoughts?
A friend just commented that he loves it, but the roof pitch might be too steep/pointy. If you made it a little less steep, would it mess up the buildings behind?
I like it! What would you think of trying it without the "of"? Maybe even just a little heavier with the bar and Iowa. The of just throws it off a smidgen for my eye.
You're awesome, 193 was exactly what I said, but this 191 is great. Do you have a different window? This one might lose detail, even though it works. Maybe try a little thicker red rectangle with a larger, fatter font for "of Iowa"
This is closer and related to the note I just sent. Just make Iowa larger. I'm afraid of losing it with the lines with embroidery on a shirt. You can play with just Iowa or of Iowa. I'm easy either way on that, whatever looks best.
I'm liking this one, you've been on the right track. Can you try one with everything from the HBA part on up, but them "Iowa" under the HBA? I'm going back to that embroidered shirt thought. Then maybe we could add the grey HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF IOWA block to the right, like you did in a prior edition. Make sense?
