Hi ctriggsy,

I just got these in under-the-wire. I went to upload the SS sketch and the time ran out. I did not include the cross pistons yet since the car illustration was is the most difficult and the part I usually work on first. I have an SS which still requires a few more hours work. In Top 5 Phase, only the top 5 "designers" (not entries) will have a submit button and continue in the contests. If I am in the Top 5, I will continue working on these and upload the new versions.

If I should make the Top 5, please let me know you thoughts on the direction and/or revisions you would like to see. Feel free to review my portfolio and see if their is a particular style you might want me to try.

I wanted to give the logo a classic look with a bit more of a lean towards the market that can afford and appreciate a well built and restored machine, not just the Hot Rod hobbyist. That is the reason I had asked the question in the public comments (as most designer probably already had done.) I was just very late to this party it may have already been brought up in private individual designer's comments.

Your feedback and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi and thanks for the ranking. #133 is the illustration, I was working on when time ran out (this is in preliminary form still). Is this a design you might want me to work on? Also any additional thoughts on the fonts. I wanted to go with classic car insignia type fonts, but do you prefer the more heavy metal "band" look?

Thanks!

Your welcome. Yes we like that design very much. Retro indeed. Could you try using maybe the font that resembles that of the font actually used on a 1970 Chevelle?

Please adjust font size for heavy metal to equal that of muscle. Try heavy metal on top and muscle below

Thanks for the feedback. I will do the fonts the same size (or at least give them equal "billing"). I did not include the Super Sport (SS) on the vehicle, since most manufactures will not allow one of their copyrighted logos to reside within another company's logo.

Even dealerships that sell a certain manufacture, cannot include the brands logo incorporated in the dealerships logo. Most manufactures have very strict guidelines as how any of their trademarked logos can be displayed. Since the SS is a branded emblem of Chevrolet's showing it may be a problem. A few years Ford came down on anyone showing a Mustang (even Mustang clubs). They have since loosened up, but their are still others that are very picky, JEEP will not allow anything, drawing or otherwise, depicting 7 grills. However emblems, marks and insignia's are protected, by all manufactures that I am aware of.

Of the designs I presented, please let me know which is the version I should most focus on.

Thanks again.

Please change muscle font to solid

160 muscle needs to be larger. Rims need to be Cragar or torque thrust styles

On 160 no wavey design on muscle word. Make it more of a metal stamp
style and larger and bolder

Thanks for the info. Are you guys leaning more on not showing the car? Also, by "no wavy design" do you mean no sheen just a flat look? For #160, I tried doing all the words in a style reminiscent to the old Chevelle look, but it was too long when I included "Muscle" so I did it in the style used were Chevelle was in cursive and the word CHEVROLET was in a solid plaque.

I'll work on these some more tonight, let me know If I should focus more on #158 or #160 or go another direction altogether. Since time is winding down, I want to be able to get this right on the preferred entry. :)

Thanks!

We love the fact that you drew out the Chevelle. When you used the shadowing in the plaque for muscle it appears wavy. If you could try using an effect like a matte metal stamping of the word muscle that would be great. Also if you could increase the font size of muscle. Thank you.

Really love what your doing with #199 and #195. I like the contrasting and stressed lettering. Could we see another with more vivid contrasting colors? I like the old military look to those though. Very iconic. Thank you.

Colors sort of wash out. It's a little bland although we love design ideA. Might be tough to layout on biz card. See what you can come up with please. Ty

We really like 199 although that design may not be right for us for a logo. I'd like to use that design on T shirts. At the very least, if your other logo 173 isn't top choice, we are interested in obtaining that from you in a separate deal between us. Let us know your thoughts. Ty

Hi Chris and Ty,

I'm back now. I wanted to avoid copies while I was gone, but since I know these designers well, I feel confidant that they are all cool. :)

I'm not sure where we left off, since I don't know what designs Ty has seen. When I last got the message from Chris, he liked the vintage look of #199, but see that it has now dropped too far out of contention, I guess all mine did. I'm not sure which direction to go in. So please review the designs and let me know which of the revision requested earlier still apply and you guys still want to see. In the meantime, I did a few more variation on previous logos, and also, more economical looks too. Your feedback and what is working for you guys and what's not would be a huge help. That is the problem trying to do work on these sites. Without the typical one-on-one interaction with the client, it becomes a matter of throwing something up and seeing if it sticks... not the best way to design a brand identity, but it is what it is. :D

Anyway, I look forward to both of your comments.

Do you want to see a version without any car? That can be done very quickly. :)

Would you be willing to sell us one of your logos even if you aren't the winner? The issue is we love your designs and would prefer to use them on t shirts and signage. The number 1 slot is preferred by the other 2 partners so we have agreed to use that on our business cards. I personally prefer yours but I'm out numbered. What are your thoughts on topic?

Hi all,

Unfortunately we are not allowed to discuss other business while a contest is still open. Doing so can lead to my ban from the site. I usually reserve 3/4 view car illustrations only for the higher end contests, but since I have recently started a partnership with a friend doing vintage-looking signs, I thought I would go ahead and do a 3/4 view for this contest. :) Unlike very specific contests that are next to impossible to re-use a drawing, car illustrations take much longer to do but fortunately there is a high demand for them and are easily either re-entered into the next contest, or used for other merchandise.

While the contest is still in judging mode, designers can still make revisions. You would need to just rank them first, which will allow them to upload and then you can re-rank back the other designer. I did several variations in one style, but I can also do a more cartoon-y look. Also, I tried to stay away from appearing as a parts dealer, and focused more on the whole vehicle, but I can easily nix the car and focus more on parts, if that is what is preferred. Just let me know. We are always allowed to talk afterwards too, but hopefully you understand that communication is very limited during the course of a contest.

Cheers!
