You could do something like this. I can even make it a little bigger if you like. It's in a very readable, no-nonsense font.

Where in Georgia? I like this design. I need to think about what to do with the slogan. I think I prefer it not on the actual logo--but if I put it on a letterhead, where do you think I would put it? just running underneath this logo?

I've worked on the water to make the bottom swirls 'fit' the circle, made the sun a bit larger. Thanks again for your feedback. It's a worthwhile project, I'm in the south (Georgia). : )

This is great, one last option would be good to consider--can you take the slogan out of the symbol?

Could you try to simplify this? Maybe drop the "air" and "water drop" and instead turn the golden swirl under "South" blue like a river?

Design also works well in black/white
