Nice design and permutations ... really looking forward to more of your creative ideas! Only specific general comment on these three treatments are that I slightly favor Entry #31. Why? I really like the darker flag outside of the circle for balance and as an eye-catcher. Also thinking the SR text works well as kind of wavy. So in 31, what if SR text was a bit bigger and not as lost? And be fun to see the Hampton orange color also in the (now) white sun? I think you may be able to incorporate some of those ideas/suggestions in 29 and 30 also. The light blue of 29 is intriguing but needs contrast. And the sun may look cool in all three, morphed a bit into an abstract sun/snowflake? Also please continue to review my on-going high-level general comments and tips, made to the entire group in the LogoTournament Brief. These are very important. Great job so far! Thanks and best, Mark
These are nice twists and will definitely demonstrate to the team what you can with this concept if chosen for the next round. Thank you! Do you have any other concepts that you want to put forth?
I'm liking what you did in 64 with the open SR type. I think that orange though is a bit too "brown" whereas a more fall orange, even tending toward a summer orange yellow may be better. What do you think? And can you try a simple snowflake for the sun versus the Aztec squiggle sun? This is turning out nice!
I just got off the phone with the group (believe me, that was interesting!) and here's what everyone would like to see for your next iteration. As you would imagine, some people liked a certain aspect of one of your treatments and others like another aspect. In the end, your new concept (94) was greatly favored over the original. I've changed the ranking to reflect this. Some were distracted by the boat leaning backwards but I explained to everyone that you could straighten the boat, move it a bit to the right, shrink the "sunflake" and move it to the right also ... and in general do your design magic ... and they were enthusiastic. Thanks!
Okay, got some more feedback from the team. The boat still seems to be "falling backward." It's not the hull and the waterline, it's that the mast is a couple degrees too far left (backward). I think if you align the mast more vertically you can solve that. The front sail is vertical to the text and that's good but the mast itself, and then the flying flag get "tipped" if you know what I mean. And when you do that, the sunflake will probably end up a little bit smaller and to the right. That's also okay because when we tried to fill up the white space, it may have gotten too busy. Not sure we need clouds and birds? I put your logo on a t-shirt (www.zazzle.com) and sent it off to the team!
Sorry, the flag is just on top of the mast so it is tipped also. But when you align the mast more vertically, you may find you do have to "tip" the flag back down to better follow the circle shape.
GREAT job! I like how you added the splash of yellow ... it warms up the design as well and subtly underscores the sunflake! You're good to go. I have a telecon tentatively scheduled with the team Saturday morning. Let's see what they think! I like it very much!
Thanks! I think I'll give you back your life (at least for a couple days!). I'm very impressed by your design and I think we'll now just wait on the committee's input before doing any more work. You're a good guy or gal and very easy to work with!
Just got off the phone with the committee and they really liked your design! I think they're going to choose you or one other designer! They asked me to have you tweak 138 to get a bit more orange into the design. In other words, they thought one of the sails in orange would lend more orange/warmth and maybe even punch up the impact of the event name. Not sure which sail would look better in orange ... maybe show me two different "moves" (the headsail in one and the mainsail in the other) and then we'll pick? Thanks again!
GREAT! Tell me when you're ready. As you can probably see, jekson is the other design everyone likes and he's ready to upload now so I've moved him into number one. Thanks!
Congratulations on the Silver! And thanks for working so hard on our logo. It was a really close contest and you should know that a lot of the folks really liked your design. My wife, Diana, founded a citizen-science project for seabird conservation and we're going to do a logo for her later this year. You can bet that you'll get an invite and I hope that you'll choose to enter that contest. Look for an invite from me and the SeaBC Seabird Count. Best and thank you again, Mark (mark@onthewaterchartguides.org)
