thanks for the rank, and maybe I can help you think of a tag altho you don't need a tag with the logo, it can be added later. You probably still want to see what the logo would look like with some kind of tag so I might make one up just for looks. My idea is that you have to grad from HS before you go to college and that the end goal is to also graduate from college. the picture of education and graduation to me is the best way to say "higher ed" at a glance. So that is my thinking if that helps.
I like the idea, can you integrate the logo i already have with the four puzzle pieces with college kids faces on it? and that color scheme with your most recent entry?
