Quick note: Practical advantages of compact (~1:1 ratio), round emblem form in any of its variations, is its easy adaptability for stamp design, as well as use for social media as ready-made profile picture, website favicon, etc... Monochromatic color scheme is also easier/cheaper for practical use (larger scale printing, embroidery, etc..) Hope this helps.

yes,...glad you've recognized this concept - stylized oak three with deep roots and strong trunk, which also represents the ship/USS Constitution (viewed from above), piercing the waves. Multi-level symbolism, in non-obvious and in a very simple way.
