The G & L are fashioned in a way to resemble the Crop tool in Photoshop. I left this flat and one color, since that is what will work best as a watermark. I didn't want to trick it up with shines and gradients.
Thanks again for your designs. Again, this doesn't seem to feel very feminine at all. Additionally, I'm not a big fan of cameras in a logo. Seems rather redundant. Can't wait to see what other ideas you have! Thanks, Gary Lee.
You have been good about offering constructive criticism, so I will reciprocate. I really feel that your trying to appeal to women by trying to be feminine is a bit misguided, and may come across as obvious pandering. Truth is most women are not drawn to men that present themselves in a feminine manner. Rather they want a man that is honest, confident and competent. I don't think a feminine logo, using a man's name is honest and it could backfire on you. I have been designing logos & graphics for 20 years, and women are much more sophisticated than you are giving them credit for....
Having said that, here is a more feminine option. It seems that most women are attracted to the fleur de lis symbol, so I made an icon using two of them.
I want to thank you for your comments. They were very well received. As a photographer, I hear "feminine, feminine, feminine!!!" when marketing is discussed. I do, however, agree with you. I don't want to seem pandering and I do want my clients to know that I'm a man.....a straight man. lol So I guess what I'm thinking now, is something that has a slight feminine feel, but doesn't undermine my masculinity and doesn't seem pandering. Now that might just be a tall order!! lol Additionally, (and I don't know if this is allowed or not) but I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on some of the top logos that I have ranked thus far. Since you've been doing this alot longer than I have, I value your wisdom and expertise. And I look forward to seeing more of your ideas too!!!
I can't really cite other designs, but I will say that I think if your name is done in a clean, readable text, and then the icon has a bit of gender-neutral feel, that could be a way of finding the sweet spot. The best way I can explain is to offer up this version. This may not be the graphic element you like the most (there are some nice ones represented here) but it demonstrates my thoughts, graphically.
