Is there another version that you can think of that focuses on my last name (Layne) as a place that uses the E and the L? For instance we made the E here look like a house that hints towards real estate but is there another version that focuses on Layne as a place and does not have a house as part of the icon? Welcome to Real Estate (Layne).

same here, make the line/stroke weight the same as the E and L

maybe if the stroke/line weight of the house was the same as the letters E, L
