Here are few options so you can check which one fits the best.

Regarding your debate - you can always edit logo and remove mascot. On the other hand it is better option to have maskot, as you will be using logo on different media and some of them may be better with some kind of pictorial representation (just my experience!)

We all love this logo!! Only feedback was literally mirror imaging the swirly "o" so the larger curvature faces the 'p'. Just so it looks more like an o. Such a minor detail. We are still debating whether or not we want to include the fish or not; in case it makes it look too busy.

Sorry, but if another designer already did it I'm not allowed to do it. Here on Logo Tournament we have strict rules that forbit designer to copy each others ideas.
(Only in case you've suggested the designer what to and how to do, than I could do it as well, othervise I'm not allowed).

One of the other contestants did this cool logo where he put Kids Dentistry instead of Childrens Dentistry, but the Kids was in crayon (different color letters). I am wondering if that would work here too.

Can we do one more with this font above, but with the crayon look. Also, lets do dashes above the Children's Dentistry. Then an additional one with all of the above, but with Dental instead of Dentistry. I think that is it!

I think we are really close here though. I want to make El Campo look like a kid drew it. Either with the crayon font or this one. I like the sun because it looks like a child drew it. Our only concern is it may confuse some to read El Camp. Maybe the sun can be incorporated as o at the end, but maybe with pink font and varying colorful rays??

I like it. Can we make...
"El Campo" lettering all pink (except the sun) and "Children's Dentistry" all blue with capital C and D and lower case letters flowing. No dashes following Dentistry on the same line, but maybe it would work accented below entire lettering.
