DeeBee - is there a way to make the character less obviously a white man? And add some minor stubble that shows he needs a shave? We are looking for a neutral look with no color or racial association.
DeeBee - you're terrific and the last one is your best. Would you try to insert the guy's tips of his fingers as if he were dabbing aftershave on his face? it gives the idea that he's adding something to his face, which is our message. So you would see maybe just his fingers and half his hands coming up from the bottom. Just an idea we want to explore. It might be too busy but worth a look.
#137 is a good one, try it with all black instead of blue highlights. Also for kicks add the arrow symbol of the male, where an arrow points northeast from the circle. Good work, thanks for the effort.
Hi, here's another design with flat color. Another designer already has a male image inside of a circle with an arrow, so my adding an arrow might be infringing on his design. Please see entry #139.
OK, please try a black background instead of blue in your #65, keep the sunglasses blue, and for contrast, use a silver or grey on the outer perimeter. #139 is good, but the integration of words and visual seems to have more oomph. Thanks for the continued efforts.
#143 is your best work so far. Ideas: add a cleft line in his chin to show there's a small cleft there, and see if you can make the words in white come off the page more in a 3D kind of way, similar to how you did the silver perimeter. Maybe even try to add some light "hairiness" to the 5 o clock shadow to make it totally obvious it's facial hair. sort of Don Johnson-ish from Miami Vice. Thanks again -
DeeBee - good work, thank you. Please make the wording in all white to make sure it really stands out as the brand name is what we want to focus on, and make the visuals complement it. So use the same 3D effect in white (as white as #143), and also see if you can expand the circle a bit so that the wording is less "smushed" and has a bit more space inside the black area. Keep the silver 3D effect at perimeter. Thank you!
Hi Susan, in entry #157 I've made the word 'DUDE' white and grayed the 'SKIN CARE' care to emphasize the brand name. I've also expanded the black area around the type.
DeeBee - thank you for the efforts. See if you can restore the 3D effect of the wording where it jumps off the page like the silver perimeter. And for comparison make the sunglasses silver with the same reflection instead of the blue, just to see how it looks.
DeeBee - 164 looks best, but please make the SKIN CARE back to white to make it pop from the black. For some added contrast and pop, try making the inner circle back to dark blue. keep the glasses black, as that works best. thank you again for the efforts -
Excellent on 166, the blue inner circle pops well, so try the inner circle in red and one version in green. And for experiment create a + sign in the small side circles instead of the - signs. See how that looks. Thank you again!
167 in red looks sharpest. Can you put the same color red as a thin border at the outer edge of the silver so that it really pops? Also, do you think a silver sword or a dagger pointing through the logo so that the arrow points to the upper right will work? So the sword handle starts at lower left and stops at edge of logo, then continues from the upper right. Is this too much or distracting?
Hi Susan, here's the new design with a red edge around the circumference, #170. Regarding the sword, yes I think it would be too distracting in that the sword would be in conflict with what the brand message is - skin care products for men. I think the sword would be over-kill in terms of 'manly' feel.
BUT I do have sword that I created a while ago, but never used so I'll rework it and add it just to see what it looks like : ). Coming up soon!
DeeBee - thanks again for the great efforts, the red at the outer edge does make the whole thing stand out even more. Yes, please see if your sword can be worked into the design in some cool way. Maybe even have a "razor" look to it, like a shaving implement. That would then correspond with the whole grooming theme. We are open to your ideas and creativity. The logo as-is is already strong, and having some "manly" tool or implement worked around it just raises the masculinity quotient.
Dee Bee - thanks again, and we agree that the sword is distracting and doesn't add value. I think only a shaving tool or something more obviously skin care focused would make sense. A razor perhaps?
Dee Bee - good work, but can you try using a single razor that looks like what you have, but kind of goes through the logo like you did with the sword before? And stick in MIAMI BEACH as the other guys have done. I asked them to do that, and same for you. Just put it a little lower than theirs to give the appearance of space. Also try a couple of other fonts for DUDE SKIN CARE for variety, as this specific one is so-so. Many thanks -
