I like the style you're going for here - the font is fantastic. How about a bit brighter colors - reds, browns, blues that are bright, but somewhat muted, not too glossy? does that make sense?

No, not necessarily. We have a slogan that some of the designers have used, but it's not necessary. We want to make it very brand recognizable.
