#1 I like all 3 of your early submissions. Do you know the rules for LLC in logos? I know the legal name itself that is registered with the state must have LLC as part of the name. I'm not positive the LLC has to be in the logo. I definitely want to see all our first submissions with the LLC and we can always see what a couple final designs looks like with or without if I find out the answer.
For now, lets revise # 1 at least without a period after LLC and let that fall flush right with the "G". Leave the comma for now.
If this winds up being a winning design in the end will probably need a version where the bristles go solid black for embroidery/screen printing applications, but leave like this for now.

#2 Same comments to drop the period for now. I like the gradation in printed media. Not sure how it would transpire in embroidery/screen printing. If this a design towards the ends we will need to look at this.
It is important to also remember the logos needs to work in a 1C application also for things like paperwork forms, etc. I will probably make this update to the contest.

I'm not liking the dash so much between Painting and LLC. And I realize it's center underneath the entire paint mark (solid area), but it makes it look off center from the entire logo. Let's try letterspacing it out a little with the left border of the bristles at the head of the brush and the right border at the end of the paint mark (solid area) with more of a gap in between PAINTING and LLC with no comma on this one. I also think it will look a read stronger in blue vs. gray.

Thanks for the feedback, I will submit the changes later on tonight when I get back to my design computer,
I did do a little research though & found out that the LLC is not necessary on the logo, but it is
needed on all legal documents.
Thanks again,
Don

That's what I kind of thought, only on legal documents. But that doesn't mean there aren't logos that will look good with LLC and some that will look better without. Let the design dictate.
I have talked to my client and have some additional feedback for you to consider.

#1 Type of brush looks a little "old style" to him. Handle a little too small compared to the length of the bristles. Maybe try an angled bristle brush vs. a straight bristle brush. That's the kind they use a lot when cutting lines into edges and performing perfectly straight lines. I have asked him if it's possible to take a picture of the type of brush he is thinking and send to me. I will see if I can post a picture that way when everyone is coming up with pictorial representations it will be a little more modern. He likes seeing the lines in the bristles for our print applications.

#2 He likes this one the most so far. Likes the gradation for print applications. Did tell him we will need to have a slightly different version for embroidery/screen printing applications but will not let that dictate what the logo will be used for 85% of the time. He feels like it's missing a little something. Keep this idea but maybe try a few were you leave some paint mark to the right of the "G" like you did in #3. You don't need to do a solid mark all behind DMG like you did in #3, but maybe just some paint marks to the right where the painting began. He also said maybe try adding a circle swoosh or something like #1. We'll have to see about that one because once you begin to add too many design elements it might look like we are trying to do "too many" different things in the same logo. We'll see...

#3 He said let's use ANY color other than blue. His previous employer had dark blue and he is SOOOO over it :) I will update the contest rules to reflect this color exclusion. So pick another color and apply my other comments left previously.

#23 Client really likes this logo and the paint swoosh. Can you slightly adjust the paint swoosh so that it's not touching the D and just comes really close like it does on the right side by the G?
Once adjusted, use this same paint swoosh and apply to other two logos (#21/#22).

Client would also like to see one revision to #23 logo that introduces the gradation used in #2/#21.

#21 Client likes redone version. We also came up with a couple ideas. Take this logo and make the DMG red/ The add the circle paint swoosh from #23. Come off the G still in red, circle down underneath and to the left, heading up with the tail end of the swoosh to the top left corner of the logo, but put the gradation throughout the entire swoosh ending with black on the tail end. Hope this makes sense.

#22 Drop the yellow, doesn't really add to design. Keep this one a 2C logo. Letter space out PAINTING LLC just a little bit more. Keep the left border. Extend the right border out a little more under the paint mark. Add a little extra space in between PAINTING and LLC. Add the paint swoosh from #23. Come off the G, circle down underneath and to the left, heading up with the tail end of the swoosh to the top left corner of the logo.

We will be working with you over the next 2+ days as one of the top 5 designers. Don't know how I am suppose to indicate this. This is different from when I've done before, but I do like narrowing down to the top 5 so less people to deal with.

We are going to concentrate on #74, #21, #22.

#74 Client likes PAINTING LLC all on one line. Let go back to the paint swoosh being all red. Apply the gradation to DMG like #21.

#21 Lets drop the period after LLC. Keep the gradation in DMG. Then lets make the paint mark to the right of the "G" a continuation of the gradation which would make it mostly black to the right. Lets see if that's better of worse than current.

#24 Lets drop the yellow in the paint brush. Stretch out PAINTING LLC just a little bit more. Keep left border. Make right border over a little farther more underneath paint mark. Keep a little extra space in between PAINTING and LLC

Don, ok we have one last fix.
My client likes #92 and currently it's in #1 position. He likes the swoosh being all red. He likes the DMG being gradated. He likes PAINTING LLC being on one line.
One thing I forgot to ask him yesterday is whether he likes the oval swoosh on #92 or the higher arched oval swoosh on #70. He likes the higher arched oval.
Could you keep all the elements of #92 and replace with the higher arched oval swoosh (in all red)?
This should finalize this logo.

Okay, here is the latest revision - #105
One drawback on the higher arched oval though, the letters are smaller than #92.
Just a thought.
Please let me know if any other changes are needed.
Thanks,

No problem, that's the main reason I rotated the brush & swoosh (to make the lettering larger)

Don, my client still liked #105 even if the DMG was slightly smaller. He likes everything from swoosh, colors, gradation, etc. There is only one request he made and I said I was going to wait until the contest ended and was working with one designer at a time.
He was wondering what PAINTING LLC would look like if it were italic or cursive. I did tell him with the slant it could make the point size slight smaller, but we would wait to see what you came up with.

Thanks Don for your quick response. I am going to keep these 2 logos in "incoming" and move another designer into #1 spot for some tweaks. I plan on talking to my client Thursday about any tweaks submitted and we will swap out his favorite amongst your 3 we have now. Thanks for all your efforts!

Don, we are currently working with only the top 2 logos now. #113 and your #122. My client did like your cursive approach. Though I have never moved #113 into #1 spot the last 2 days my client has expressed liking these two logos and going back and forth on which he likes best.

I am now asking each of you to submit you logo in a black/white version that we would use in 1C applications. I received #113 last night and now I am moving you into #1 spot to submit the same.

I will be showing these, along with the current color logos, to my client today and I think he will be picking a winner today.

Thanks for all your efforts. I personally, like yours best, but I have to remember it's not my logo :)

Good Morning,
Here is a greyscale version along with a strictly black & white version.
I hope the client likes these.
