I like your idea with the microscope. I wonder if there is a way to reflect that in the grey arc on logo #1.
The name should be DermLogic, rather than all uppercase.

Will the embossed lettering show up in the darker blue? Or only with the lighter blue?

It depends on your choice of background color. my advice, you use the logo color between light blue and dark blue (like my entry), between dark blue and light blue, with this you can put your logo on 2 different background colors (dark blue and light blue). I give embossed logo so you can be seen more clearly.

We do a lot of work with wax and it shows up all over our dark clothes. So we will typically have a lighter color background. Currently we have gray jackets and that works well. I like the gray arc and have been contemplating if this will be a problem with our gray jackets. I think it will be ok.
Do you think there is a nice way to put the slogan (The logical choice for your dermpath needs) on the logo, too?

Ok, i'll show you that logo with slogan :)
anyway, another idea is put your slogan at the back of the jacket, thats will looks good and the front side of jacket will not looks busy, hope you understand about my explanation, in the short sentence, maybe you can separate between logo and slogan :)
but i will give you variation of logo with slogan
