I like the icon, and the way you tied the two O's together is something that makes it stand out... so good first efffort. One thing I have to watch is people confusing COOL.com with COOLCOM.com.
I also need to keep the multi-site idea in mind.... for example webservers.ca. In this case I would be using the Cc icon at the beginning to maintain the visual relatiosnship with COOLCOM's brand, use the .ca in the vertical position like you have the current .com part, and the some version of the word webservers, but not all caps...
Sorry if that's confusing... I think I'm still strugggling with that idea myself. I'm just trying to maintain a brand identity across several sites.
I'm not quite sure if I got it right. You want an icon that can stand alone? One that you can use with another site and people will still know that it's under coolcom and will not be confused as that site's logo? Am I correct?
For the meantime, here's an abstract icon with a hint of coolcom or cc...
You have two entries both with elements that are attractive. On number 12 your use of the Coolcom and .com sideways is great. Love the use of two colors and the simplicity. But then the CC goes out there.. from simplicity to almost old school 3D from a few years back. Then your entry number 23 has the icon which is far less 3D, I like that icon better for that reason. Is there a way to flatten out the CC on 12? /Almost a mix of the two icons is what might work.
When we use another URL such as server.ca, that one would use the icon.. it would be the Coolcom Icon, but the server.ca part would be using the nice flat fonting you have. What I have trouble visualizing is how the two colors could be incorporated into a one word logo though.
Lastly, each site will have a color, some are burgundy, some blue. So I imagine the logos can take on those colors to match, Im guessing that wont be an issue?
