Thank you for all of your ideas so far. You definitely understand that we wanted something bold, crisp and colorful. Your ideas have grown on me over time - you should notice that I've increased the rankings of several of them since I first ranked them.
It looks like you've used slightly different colors than the ones I suggested, and this is a good thing! Your colors are bolder and crisper, and we like that! I read about the Pantone colors which look equally good online and in print, and I'm guessing that's what you've used - thank you.
I also like your bold fonts.
I've always like the owl, but it does look to me like it's too "generic" - it looks like it was one of hundreds of previously created characters vs. something that was customized to our logo.
In entry #25, we love the aspirational person wearing a graduation cap and climbing the steps of the letter "E" and reaching for the stars. That is a brilliant idea and our favorite design concept so far! I was not in love with the yellow color at first, but it has been growing on me.
We expect a majority of our web site visitors to be on mobile devices, phones. An "emblem logo" will take up a lot of vertical real estate on a small screen. For that reason, if we end up choosing an emblem logo as the winner, it will have to be truly amazing.
I'd like to see #25 as a horizontal logo, and I'd like to see more variations of it, with different color options. I'm sure that the character takes a lot of work, but we really are attracted to this concept and would love to see more variations.
Thank you very much for the ideas you've submitted thus far. Good stuff!
The font used in #79 is our favorite. We like this font better than the fonts used in #62 and #78.
I'd like to see two more variations please:
(1) I'd like to see #79 with a tiny bit of space added between "College" and "500". Not much, just a tiny bit.
(2) I'd like to see #79 but with the "500" shown as it appears in #80: white letters on a green background, but it's not circular - it's more like a rectangle with rounded corners.
Please compare the "500" in #109 to the "500" in #37. The spacing between "College" and "500" is different. And the amount of padding around the "500" is different.
I want the "500" in #109 to be more like the "500" in #37. But green instead of orange, and scaled to match the font size.
Your ideas have been strong from the start. I've always liked the bold fonts and strong colors. And the added element of the person climbing the steps and reaching for the stars was exactly what I was looking for.
I'm not sure what to suggest to try next. I like the person, but I'm concerned that the style of character is over-used. It's the type of character that I'd expect to find hundreds of variations of in some clip-art package. I still like it, but that's the only thing holding me back from absolutely loving: a perceived lack of individuality.
Based on the logos I like from other designers, I do seem to be drawn to using a third, complementary color.
I would welcome any ideas and suggestions that you may have. And please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.
ebonk, Thank you very much for all the logo designs you submitted. They're all excellent, and I've liked your ideas from the very beginning. In the end, some designs were submitted in the last hours that I ended up liking better. But I want you to know how much I appreciated your time and effort. Thank you.
