I like all three of your entries - thank you. In #6, I think the 5 should be the same color as the 00. In #6 and #7, I'd like to see a slightly larger font size for the word "COLLEGE".
Good stuff - I like these a lot. After seeing more of these, I think the font size for the word "College" needs to be a little smaller than the "500". For example, I like how #7 looks. I'm sorry if my previous comment messed you up.
Dodi, Sorry for the misspelling of your name in my last post. Spell-check must have changed it for me. My deepest apologies.
We really like the way you've turned the "500" into a "character". Half of us like the owl with the graduation cap better, and half of us like the book/eyebrows better. If we end up choosing one of these, it will likely come down to a coin toss. They're both great.
Perhaps the owl-with-cap is already too busy: I don't think it needs any stars. We would want to take the start out of the letter "o" in College.
We want the colors to be bold and crisp. I've read about Pantone colors which look equally good on web and in print. Please feel free to adjust the colors to make them better, bolder, crisper: you don't have to exactly match the preliminary color scheme we've been using on our web site.
We're still not satisfied with the font size, face, capitalization and/or background of the word "College". The word "College" is currently on a banner with a pointy end on the left, and it might look better with a rounded/curved end instead. I'd also like to try it with the word "College" in blue letters on a white background (no banner/ribbon behind it).
And I'd like the font face/family to be bold and crisp like the colors. I would also like to see different fonts, different sizes, and "College" vs "COLLEGE" (first letter capitalized vs. all letters capitalized).
We expect a majority of the visitors to our web site to be on mobile devices, phones. We now feel that a horizontally oriented logo would be better - it would take up less vertical real estate on the screen than would an emblem logo. The emblem would have to be awesome for us to choose it as the ultimate winner. We will consider both types of logos until the very end.
Thank you again for the wonderful designs you've already submitted. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
Thanks Dodi! #46 and #47 look the best to me. You'll definitely be in my top 5 with these, at which point I'd like to see "500" in lots of different colors. Great work - thank you.
We think all of your designs look even better when we zoom in, or expand them. Are you using the full width of the available image size, or do you have white space on the left and right side of the logo?
If there is white space, I'd like to see #53 and #52 a little bit larger.
Dodi, in #18, you introduced the concept of an apple, which relates to learning because students used to give apples to their teachers. While we did not like this logo, we do like the concept of using an apple in the logo. Would you be willing to try to come up with other ways an apple might be incorporated into our logo? Thank you.
Can we change #112 from an owl into a person? Delete the nose, delete the horns on the eyes, and lower/adjust the hat. We think it might look friendlier and more approachable that way.
Can we find a blue that's in between what you originally had and the dark blue that we have now? Still want a dark blue, just not quite as dark.
No rush - we can try this in the top-5 phase. Thank you.
I've always loved the way you've worked "characters" into your designs. #113 = the book man with eyebrows. #112 = the wise owl. #125 = the graduate.
If you submit new variations of these, please stick with the blue used in #125 for the word "College".
Are these Pantone colors? I don't even know what that means. Should I be concerned about that? Why or why not? Thank you.
More feedback:
(1) I'd like to explore new fonts. I'm attracted to bolder (thicker) letters. I think that could really add some interest to your designs. I'm not sure if "College" and "500" have to be the same font or not.
(2) There is a perceived lack of symmetry to your designs. This is not your fault, since the 500 is at one end of the logo. But I wonder if we could move the word "College"? Could it be curved above/over the "500"? This would make the logo more like an "emblem" (which I've always been attracted to, but not sure about). In addition to exploring new ways to position the word "College", we could explore adding borders and truly turning it into an emblem logo.
I recognize that this could be a lot of additional work. But these are the ideas that I think could improve the ranking of your designs for me and the rest of the decision makers involved.
I'm open to any ideas or suggestions that you might have. Please let me know if you have any questions. And thanks again for the fabulous designs that you've already submitted.
Dodi, Thank you very much for submitting such great logo designs. I've liked your designs from the beginning, and I've appreciated your willingness to make changes to them based on my feedback. At the end, two other designs came in during the last hours that I ended up liking better. But I've given one of your designs third place - bronze - and I believe I have five of your designs in my top 10. Thank you very much for all the work you put into this.
