It appears that some designer's are submitting their designs in RGB. Is this a preference? Since RGB is only for viewing on monitor, should we assume that the logo will never be printed? RGB has the advantage that the color are brighter on screen but some color will never be able to print. In print the colors will become muddy and with less than satisfactory result. To avoid any unpleasant surprises after the fact, it would be advisable that you mention that all design be entered only in CMYK. This will give you the advantage of seeing what a logo may look like both on screen and in print. For further help, on this, feel free to ask any question of me or admin. You can ask admin make a comment, to advise the other designers about this. Additionally this will make sure that admin sees to it that you receive appropriate files you can use before any money is released. :)
OK, now to my designs (and yes they are CMYK too) :D I tried a more text based logo. I'm starting with a round shape but can easily change to an oval or whatever shape you prefer. Additionally, I can also had a 4x4 vehicle (please take a look at my portfolio to get an idea of different styles I can do. Simple or detailed.)
Your additional feedback or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Well you've outdone yourself. Many thanks. Don't worry too much about the rgb/cmyk colour issues. I have been translating online into print and print into online for the last ten years so it won't be an issue, but I am grateful for your advice. I like what I see, no changes required at this stage. :-)
I will keep thinking of new ideas and upload if other options. :)
It good to see a CH (contest holder) that understands the whole RGB / CMYK issue. It has been a topic of some contention around the forums here lately. Unfortunately, most people don't understand that CMYK to RGB is fine, but RGB to CMYK can be disastrous. It's can see how most people don't know (or should even care) about the difference, but as professional designer, it is our duty to be sure the client purchases something that they can use. Because I also run a printing business, I see this on a daily bases. A client comes to me saying that their last printer did a horrible job. Well, as you know, it was not the printer, it's the file and unfortunately there is no way anyone will give the client the results they see on their screens. Lately the site has been trying to remedy these issues, because it's become somewhat of a problem.
Anyway, if there is anything that occurs to you, even if you would like a change on a whim (just to see what it looks like), just ask. That's what we're here for. :)
