Variation #2: Is it possible to incorporate a three dimensionality to the shoe, such that it is gaining perspective, and perhaps drop the logo into the space to the left of the laces? Also, we wanted to avoid climate steps being "stepped on", but really like the idea of there being motion (although still simple).
