Hi Ray.
Sigh, as you can see we have moved another designer up into first place. This was done by no fault of your own and after 3 votes of the larger group.
To tell you a bit about our process, here's this: You have been chatting with two people, me (afton) and Chelsea (a neuroscientist with good taste). That might be why some of the communication was at times a bit scattered. We make up 2 of the 4 person logo team representing a bunch of scientists and research assistants. The 4 logo team members ALL liked your designs the best and greatly appreciated working with you. However, the vote kept coming back with your designs in second place. Grumble. It became quite the ordeal - we ended up with Team Ray and Team Mac. After the 3rd and final vote, Mac won again. So, please accept our deepest thanks and apologies for the outcome. You are very talented, responsive and kind. Best of luck to you in future contests!!
Hi Ray,
Just a quick note to say how much we appreciate your responsiveness. We really love your designs, but we also have to consider input from the broader group. We're just looking at a couple tweaks with another designer. Please stand by. Thank you!
Hi Ray,
We've received more feedback from our group and some feel that the brain is a little too abstract looking still. Could you try smoothing out the edges of the brain into a more "conventional" brain shape? Keep the triangles and this color scheme though. thanks!
It's looking great! You are so responsive, Ray, thank you. Could you also provide a version of this contained in a rectangle so it could be placed on a white background?
These are looking very nice! Would it be possible to use a heavier san serif font similar to the University of Michigan standards? Does not need to be exact.
we've started the survey with our larger group and many feel that this brain is "too busy". can you try simplifying the color scheme somewhat? an idea might be all the triangles in variations of the maize color (dark background) or blue color (white background).
Hi Ray,
I like these colors better. Quickly, before we make up our minds, can you try a layout where the text is on the side and the brain is next to the text on the left.
we like the size of the brain in this one. and the blue is perfect.
I'll be honest with you - our group is split over your logo. some people love it and others feel that it doesn't work as well next to the michigan logo and they don't love the color scheme of the brain as much in these newer versions - some said that with the darker versions, it becomes harder to tell that it is a brain. I don't have specific suggestions for you, other than I wanted you to know what people are saying. thanks for all the work you're doing for us!
Hi Ray.
These are nice. Could we see some of the maize and blue designs with more subtlety in between the colors of the brain? What was appealing about the original colors was the soft transitions between triangles. Also, the serif font on all letters looks more sophisticated. Be inspired by the Michigan font and colors but not constrained by them.
Hi Ray,
We like your designs, but we have some more specific requests we would like you to try out if possible.
We are part of the University of Michigan and we would like our logo to reflect that to some extent. At the very least, we want it look good when it is next to the Michigan Medicine logo. We can't use the words "Michigan Medicine", but we can use the maize and blue colors and a similar font. See these links: http://med.umich.edu/branding/color.html and http://med.umich.edu/branding/typography.html
of course we definitely appreciate the creativity and expertise you bring to this as well!
Yes. Sorry for the confusion. This is close. I was wondering what it would look it if the text was partially overlaying the brain. So that text and image were integrated.
Could you please edit this design so that the brain is in shades of blue and yellow (school colors) with minimal green and so that lettering is more like the other designs we really like with all caps: Chronic Pain and Fatigue on the top line and in larger font, and Research Center on the lower line in smaller font.
raymer - we really like your designs! Could we see a version of this one with shades of maize and blue? Also, is it possible to show us Fatigue on the top line?

we still are not in love with the font though. it needs to be heavier than #240, but "AND FATIGUE" looks too big here.
can you also remove the horizontal bar and try a vertical bar between the brain and the text?

Can we see options of this logo with a slightly larger brain, and options with it extending behind the text? Thanks
