Here are some possibilities for you. Actually this is our landlord's chicken..I illustrated her for fun one day after taking a photo of her..she is the only one out of 25 that is smart enough to fly the coop every day :-)

You had all your 'stylistic sliders' in the center which usually means 'neutral'
Also you asked for other options so I thought I would give you something completely different.

If you aren't getting the logo direction that you envision, more input on your contest page as well as individual input to the designers by clicking on their design will help.
