In my opinion it does not have to be just a mascot attached to the name of your website but rather the one which is composed with it. I hope that you will like my idea of the crab looking from behind the name (like from water or like from a pot), resting its pliers on the letters and looking into your visitor's site. I believe that this approach will also help to keep it recignizable in smaller scales. I also played a little with your slogan. I divided it into two to set some accents (now it's like Baltimore goes... and "goes" part is emphasized just like "hungry" part).
