#14 Maybe an inkdrop shape which the 3D text could sit within?

Keep everything the same in #14, just work on variations of ink droplet shape instead of the red circle.
I prefer the ink droplet shape in #42 than in #35. I don't like the 'gloss' in #35 either.

+ Can you tweak cewe to have the same spacing at #46
+ The 3D font and spacing look a bit tight, I like the font and spacing of 3D in #44 if you could do something similar. Still keeping the 3D effect / shadowing on the lettering.
+ Rotate the inkdrop so the 'tip' is pointing upwards.
