I thought the butterfly would be a nice symbol to use. I understand the the ribbon color is indicative of different cancers so I am trying to use something rather neutral and not gender specific. Your thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I'm so sorry-- i just figured out how to read comments on each design, and that I can respond to them. My apologies.
I love your designs; you are quite skilled!
The butterfly is a nice symbol, but looked a little too complicated-- I'd be curious to see if you had a simple butterfly!
Incorporating a ribbon into the logo is a brilliant idea-- i love it. I especially LOVE how you made this ribbon into a heart. The ribbon ideas are so creative; I only took out the one ribbon design you did because the ribbons were upside down, and some people might think that's too non-traditional.
Thanks for the feed back and ranking. Yes, I can simplify the butterfly. Please feel free to suggest any changes or let me know if you'd like to see a combination of any of the designs I have presented. I'll be uploading the simpler butterfly this afternoon.
I received a message from a fellow designer accusing the design that was ranked first (when I last saw the contest) as being a copy of his. Fortunately he was set straight by the other designers before I even saw the accusation. My designs where done before his design, so he he had to withdraw his case against me.
You are definitely the only one with the concepts of a butterfly and the unique ribbon designs, and I will honor that. I don't remember seeing any other concepts in this contest that are like yours, so I'm assuming that you're referring to another contest.
You ideas are unique and beautiful. I feel like I am no longer qualified to judge between these excellent and varied concepts, so I am going outside to ask for more help. Will keep you posted.
I was thinking about it some more. The butterfly is a beautiful image, but I was wondering if there was something more stylistic that can be done with it. For instance, maybe a different angle of the butterfly, carrying the ribbon?
Just something to consider, if you think it is a good idea.
The reason I liked the butterfly was that it is the symbol of change, new life and moving forward. The design was originally done for a Hollywood celebrity's cause, but in the end the butterfly ribbon lost out to another design because they felt the ribbon was too associated with cancer. That is why I felt it might work here. I'll work on this idea a bit more.
Let me explain the coloring of the text. I want to give a sense of the word "Cancer" fading out but still very much legible. Almost give a sense that the word as with the cancer can be put into remission. I hope that feeling gets conveyed, as I planned it. If you prefer another color scheme or would like to see any changes, please do not hesitate to let me know. Also, do you have a preference to a particular font? Thanks!
I do like the concept behind the fade. However, as the logo will also be used as a graphic over video, I'm afraid that it may not "print" well on video. Could I ask for entries 119, 114, 124, 121, 120, 118, and 122 be resubmitted without the fade? There is no rush for this, as obviously this will continue past the Open Phase.
I'll let you know what my colleagues think about the font; I think it works well.
Keep in mind that it is not unheard of to also have a company logo in a couple of color variations as well as a simple line-art (black and white) version for multi-part forms, faxes, legal documents...
Also with video, it should not be a problem (as a kid I used to do video titles for my father's production company before we got into advertising.) Of course production video back then (late 70's) was relatively new and nowhere the high definition that it is today. I mention this because, it might actually be a nice effect for you, to have the letters on the video, transition into a lighter fade in real time. Way ahead of ourselves, but I thought I'd throw it out there. :)
I think I got them all with the solid colors. Please let me know if I overlooked any of them. Also, if you want to see a color change, I'll be more than happy to make revisions.
The butterfly and ribbon are a great concept; there have been some differences in our group about whether that fits exactly with our vision. However, the logo is so nice. We're going to take some time to discuss this further.
