I know you're bee-averse and would only allow unique bee treatment for it to be considered. With that in mind, I've come up with a hybrid symbol -- combination of the features of a bee and the box. Initial look at the graphic seems that it's a bee but closer inspection reveals that it's actually in a shape of a box. This makes your logo very unique, clever and memorable!
