Hi - here is my first round of entries. I kept the type the same to explore the concept first. The main concept is a new rendition of your tree, with the top of the tree forming a rocky head (like a nice, foamy Belgian) and drip that kinda blends into the foliage of the tree. In the tree, I've added CO2 bubbles. I thought it was a subtle way to visually say "BUR OAK" and "BEER".
The other submission - #4 - is simply an acorn/oak leaf in the same style.
Any comments/feedback/revisions you have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time & consideration.
Entry #1: Not a fan of the blue. Entry #2: I like the colors and the tree (especially the foamy head...nice touch). The canopy could be bigger and possibly even take more of a circular shape to fit with a circular emblem. I am looking for more of an emblem style (like Starbucks). I will post a couple photos of the inspiration tree.
Nice! That chamomile wheat is a great idea. Do you brew any stouts?
I have 10 gallons of a coffee oatmeal stout in my primary, 6.5 gallons of a smoked baltic porter with maple aging in secondary and am brewing "christmas-spiced" wee heavy tomorrow. You're a lucky guy - living the dream!! :)
I'll work on a new tree - I draw everything from sketch, so it takes me a little longer than some of the "convert from a photo" guys. Do you want Bur Oak in a ring similar to the Starbucks logo (&and your previous logo?)
On #9, I think the foam on the beer/tree might be confused in Missouri as snow. I think the overall look is strong and the shape of the tree is just about perfect. Would you mind experimenting with the "rays" of sunshine behind the tree? Might be nice to see alternating shades of gold/yellow/orange/red coming from behind the tree to give it just a bit more color.
My wife got it instantly if it's any consolation. (and we're on the IL/WI border, so we're always thinking about snow) I'd just hate to see it go - I think it could be a clever tie between branding & product. I will, of course, make one without so you can compare.
I love the colors your working with. The rays are a nice touch, but I was thinking instead of lines, maybe more like triangular points (if that makes any sense). As you could tell from my original logo, I was going for a Starbucks theame. A lot of designers like the ribbon look and that may be a for a good reason, I'm not sure.
I'd like to see the perimeter of #22 placed around the center of #21. Can you also put little more space between the words "Bur" and "oak"? would also be interested in seeing a few other color combinations in place of the brown in the outer ring. I really like the boldness of this logo.
Hey Fred - here are some revisions - new colors, as well as the spacing issue on the type. I tried the hop cones as before, but also flipped the color so they were white-filled. Anything else I can do, please let me know. :)
This is the same logo - #40 is shrunk down to approximate usage size - it'll fit great on a cap or a bottle. #41 shows how it can be both shrunk down as well as made into a solid color black for promotional items (both merchandise and flyers/posters) The single color version also allows for cheap & easy screen-printing & embroidery. I always like to show how the logo looks small and single color (faxes, stamps, already mentioned promotional use, engraved/screenprinted into glassware/napkins/coasters). As a brewer, you will be using your logo in these smaller, limited ways more than you will large and in full color. Just throwing that out there as something to consider. (having worked with a number of micro & nano brewers)
I think #39 is your best yet. I'd like to see how the tree and rays from #20 inside your perimeter from #39. I want the internal part of the logo to pull in the rich browns, golds, oranges and greens in our color palette.
We like everything about this logo except for the tree which looks, by comparison, a little cartoon-ish. Can you work on the tree and come up with something a little more abstract?
