Welcome to Logo Tournament! I have submitted the following entries for your review. I used a calming color palette, but a cool web 2.0 graphic that will be familiar to a younger clientele.
I think they slightly miss what I'm going for though, and the focus of the name "brighterself". You're absolutely right that the purpose of the site is to help save and care for these people. But, by taking the name "brighterself", I wanted to focus less on our action of "saving" and "rescuing" and more on their own internal power and potential.
I have in mind something that exudes contentment, a subdued radiance and a soft glow. Probably a rounder font with slightly darker colors (more serious), but at the same time optimistic nonetheless.
This one works great in the modern tech age...this web friendly icon can be used as an app icon, or a favicon when standing alone without the wordmark (i.e. facebooks famous "f")
