hi Kent. i'm not sure if i'm out of time or not, but i just stumbled across this mark. i really like the proportions. wondering if you can show us with stipling (i think that's what it's called), straight horizontal and larger slogan? thank you
hi Kent. hope you are well. we are torn between this cup and the other very similar to it, but with the brim. could we see both with the lower case "l.a." and larger slogan? also, when the contest closes, are you able to share both this and the inverse color option?
hi Kent. sorry i've been quiet the last few days. the team has been busy AND we got stuck when another family member asked a couple hard questions. she knows that our long game is to offer beer at some point. an "all things brewed" kind of shop. she pointed out that our top choices are rather narrowly focused on a tea/coffee cup. so i went back to this cup to see if it could also be construed as a glass for beer. this is largely the reason we've all paused...a bit overwhelmed that we missed such a big piece. i thought i would share this with you to see if you have any thoughts on the matter from a design perspective.
ok don't laugh, but since we have a couple 'south paws' in our group, there is a request to make the cup left-handed. not urgent, but perhaps in any new incarnations, do you mind putting the handle on the left as in #121?
awesome. have a wonderful date night. i think we're good to go with you as our favorite. we can work out more details in the days to come. thank you again for all your effort and help in shaping our "look."
another curiosity... in the stack of 3 cups, you added the "b" to the top and it looks like a poof of steam. could we see that on one of these single cups designs.
My wife, also a designer (we met at art school two weeks before starting and even together since) walked by and said I want to go there when she saw this logo.
Sounds like you and your family have exciting times to come. I'll try to figure out what mine is missing. Not sure how long we'll have our business. It is doing really good but I think they want to slow down again. I could do it myself, if I hired others, but it wouldn't be the same.
i absolutely love that your folks are working with you. unicorn5 because we are myself, my son, his partner, his father and my mother, 5. i'm really excited to be working on this project with my fam. eager to give my son the taste of being his own boss.
to be honest, i would really love for yours to be the favorite also. i've been trying to think of what it is about our current favorite that makes it so and what is missing from your concept (that is sooo awesome). i'm not able to pin it down completely. however, as i was just writing about this being a family venture, i think it has to do with wanting the mark to somehow reflect the "vibe" of the tribe behind the business. we are a cross generational group that one of auntie's would describe as coocoo-lala. when we get together you know there will be laughter. we love exploring culture, our own & others, thru music, food, travel and conversation with interesting people. ...for what it's worth.
Family run businesses seem to gain a lot of respect from clientele. I brought my parents out of 26 years of retirement to work with me.
Now I just need to know how to make mine your favorite. The thing I like is there is something unique about the icon and since it has the intial in it, you can use it in lots of fun ways. Take away the typography you still have a brand you can build.
Thank you and the last unicorn
i agree that it's cleaner. love the bean/tea "b," incl the texture. but we're also wanting to make sure the mark is quick and easily "readable." oh, well if we go for something like the abstract "b" what about making the slogan stand out a wee bit more?
I'm taking my family out to dinner so it will be in the top five phase when I get home. I still can make all the mods you might want. I like having the stand alone B for use without the name
one last throw out. when we started loading out info into LT we were interested in seeing something simple with typewriter font. we decided against adding it to the design brief because we wanted to see as wide a range of ideas as possible. however, only one designer has presented something with that font, so i thought i would ask if you mind giving it a go?
is it too late to ask for a mod? we're debating whether it is too cumbersome to read brewtique split into two lines. i like the B concept here, but wonder if we could see it all in one line? like, the same B followed by "rewtique" in same font. make sense?
If you think of anything you want to see with any of my entries, just let me know. I know I can make you something special. Any adjectives that might steer my next ideas are always welcome. I appreciate the time you have given to help guide me. Still working on ideas but I'm not home till later. Thank you
wow...that last message was all typo'd. i meant 'border' and meant to ask about making the 'right' side flush (opposite the mug handle). ugh! thanks again.
hi Kent. thank you so much. you just keep digging deeper and coming up with some really unique marks. this one is so much fun! the slogan get's a little lost though. what if it wrapped from under the 'que' to around the right side of the cup?
Do you have any more information that I might be able to include in a label style look such as city and state? Or any other fun elements I can work with?
Thank you
hi Kent. thank you for your enthusiasm! i love it. this is my favorite of your latest incarnations thus far. i like the font combo esp. however, as i compare it to 'Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf' it might be a little too similar? i apologize that to some extent we're working from a rule out perspective. meaning, since we didn't have an idea of what we wanted, we're kind of ruling out what we know we don't want. so we really appreciate the variety you and the other designers are putting forward.
I was heading home for lunch when I saw your feedback. I'm back at work now but will work on modifications this evening. I'm here to help even long after the contest is over.
Take care
Kent
any way to sublty incorporate a bean & tea leaf? i'm worried it might compromise the mark, but i really appreciate how those images get people to understand more quickly what we sell.
thank you for the heads up, Luckykid. unfortunately, since we didn't have a strong idea of what we wanted, we are just marinating on all these great ideas at the moment. i really like your creative incorporation of the bean and tea leaf. the font is not something i would have chosen, but it communicates a kind of class that interests me. i'm trying to decide if it's too "tea room" or not. i'm sure i'll have more feedback once i've had a couple more hrs to soak these all in.
