Discussion

HI! I like all 3versions. Could we try and add "shopping with difference" as slogan in each of them. May be we need to rework the font size , especiall in #35 and 29 and the layout in #2. May re-balance it? Also I like to see it on a silver/grey background with a softer font.
Thanks again!!

I've added a grey background so you can see how it looks, but I (personally) would avoid that as it limits the usefulness of the logo (in my opinion) on things like stationery, business cards and any promotional material you may wish to produce in the future - you'll always be reliant on a grey background which may not be what you want in some cases.

Thank you, fare point! I am also mainly thinking of the website, how it will look out there, in the big open ocean of logos :). It has to look strong! Could we try #36 in bigger font, may be even in a slightly bolder/stronger on the actual name?
Just as an idea, as the design is quite simply and clean, can we may be add a sparkle to the name (or just to the part of it) or a shading which will give it a 3d feel? May be just to the flower/star? Or to the whole name? What do you think?
Thanks again,

In the example website you gave as a reference, everything was very stripped back and clean - simple text on white with just a little detail of colour. I thought it was a really nice site, contemporary, fresh, stylish. I'm not sure I can achieve that as a designer on grey, I need the white to compliment the text and shape of the other elements.

If your looking for the logo to 'pop out' a bit more, there are a couple of things I could try for you ... watch this space - and remember less is more!

You go the idea and my vision, great!! This is what I am trying to achieve, so let's forget about background colour and let's make it sharp and super stylish. My web designer is going then to build the site around the logo.
As for the new design, thanks! I like it in #51, but it's probably a bit overpowering in #52. But to be honest, I think the flower/star in #35 and 37 looks a bit stronger. But did you say there will be something new coming up? Can't wait!!!
Thanks you,
Natasha

Hi Natasha - do you have any thoughts on the typefaces used ? #51 uses a more hand written style - quite personal, #39 is a bit more scripty, more 'boutiquey' - any preference ?

Here the thinking is that the fuscia swirl is like a twist of fabric - but also wings - which gives the impression of freedom ... you give your client freedom (of choice, of mind, free-up their time)

'B' forms the wing - of course there is the butterfly reference too - metamorphosis, image change etc

A continuation of the wing/butterfly reference using the B from boutique shape - this shape could 'stand alone' as well I think, maybe on your own label ?

I think the wings idea looks particularly good with this typeface

I definitely prefer font in #39 .

And I really like #56! Looking strong!! Could we try and make the slogan slightly smaller? and Mannequin as well, only slightly?

Is it only in two colours- pink and black? or is it slate? It would be great if we could have 3 colours going. May be add silver or grey somewhere?

Is it possible to make the mannequin a slightly 3d with a bit more shading on the body?

Thanks, great work!! very exciting!!

Glad you like that one - its also my favourite - lots going on in there despite its simplicity ... here is a revision, its pink, and two different greys - also the 'neck' of the mannequin is brown as I guess it would be wood.

Just felt like I had to upload a version without the slogan - its so nice and clean!

love them both. thanks so much. could i also see the mannequinne on it's own as a logo?
in #58 could we position name and slogan closer together and try in a darker grey?
cheers!

Morning! - here is the first - darker grey, and slogan moved up - needs to be at the side as they get closer together because of the 'q'

Thank you! Could we try #69 with a slightly bigger mannequin keeping the rest the same?

Also could I see the same version without the slogan (I think I’d prefer it in darker colour comparing to #58 for sharper image)

And finally could we play with the size of the wings on the mannequin? I am thinking bigger, but only marginally.

Thanks a lot!

And here's something else to think about - a slightly different take on your slogan?

Wow, suddenly we have a proper butterfly in #94, 95. I like the way it looks, but not 100% sure if it's a right move. What do you think? It does look very clever, but is it too girly for a contemporary style?

While we are thinking, could we try #69 only with slightly bigger wings (no more than the ration in #93).

Also can we see #93 with the old slogan? I really like the new version of the slogan, but the truth is that it all happens in my house, so if I put 'in your home', i won't be telling the truth or would only be referring to my on-line services. If you could find another way of saying it, it would be great. May be '1-to-1 shopping', or ...?
This is the hard bit- to keep it to the minimum, but to say enough to reflect the difference.

And finally what would be your favourite logo including the new versions?
Thanks!

I take your point about being girly - what if we went for a deep red rather than pink ?. This would be quite a stylish colour combination, and its still feminine because it's a butterfly ... as for the use of the butterfly as an idea, I don't think Harvey Nicks wouldn't use a butterfly because it was too girly - if its a strong idea and I think it is, then they would use it anyway ... having said that, I am slightly biassed - and you know what kind of image you want to portray better than me.

I'll have a think about the slogan - I missed the fact that it was your home ... what about just 'personal fashion styling' ?

You have a great knowledge of London retail hot spots :).. interesting.
Are you saying you like #94/95 the best? I am toying with the idea and checking many websites to see how it will fit into what I have in mind.
May be it's my eyes, but it seams that writing in #92 is brighter or darker than in the mentioned above versions. It has perfect sharpness.
slogan ideas
'1-to1 styling and shopping'
'personal styling and shopping'
What you think?
Thank you so much,

Sorry for this, but i can't resist but asking you to try this for me if possible. Could you possibly change Boutique@Home to

NATASHA COOTE company name
boutique with personal styling - slogan

just to see how this going to look.
thanks!!!

Hi Natasha, I have to admit I quite like this - I think it fits the 'less is more' philosophy and I think your name is stylish. However - the 'B' wings no longer have any relevance as the same B from boutique is missing.

If I had to pick a favourite I think I would choose 98 - but just because I prefer the burgundy ... the wing size does not bother me, I like small and large.

THANKS! It's really pleasant to see own name as a logo!

Could we try it in #37 and #38 format? and also #39?
as slogan could we have;
boutique/styling advice/wardrobe clinic

if you do a quick search for personal stylist in Google and just look at their logos, you might get a good feel of the simplicity and font idea. so sorry for this late turn. this is my only chance to get it right.

thanks. very exciting!

Thank you for staying positive after last minute change! I sent a few versions to my friends today to see what they think and the comments were that the B@H logo is great, but they though the mannequin was a bit old fashion. Any way to change it?

124 is great, so is 121. I have one more twist though. My maiden name is Sander. Always wanted to use it. Any chance to try it on in a few premium fonts? And I like to see NS in it somewhere like in no 121, again in different fonts.

What are your views on the move? Are we getting towards something premium?

And finally. I have a photo of a little flower which I really love to see may be in design or later on the website. I took it yesterday. Is there anyway I can email it to you now from my mobile? Or attach here?

Another comment was to use Boutique@Home as slogan under my name as many clients associate me with the boutique. But it would have been good to keep the other services on it too. Would it get too messy? It almost like I need to separate logos..!

i think i have to stick to the boutique@home name unless I go as an independant stylist (to use own name). may be later. Also the web will be mainly informative than for selling, so the focus is on me in my house with fab clothes, which is the whole point of difference.

ther are some different designs are coming through in the last minute.. have a look at my ranking to see where the vision went.

fingers crossed your design wins! would be awful not to after so much work!

There are always lots of last minute entries - thats fine, there will probably be 100 more before the close !

See what you think of this - I think whats important now from where I am standing is to choose the best concept from the mannequin or flower - I can concentrate better on one concept and refine it, rather than trying to juggle both.

another important thing to remember and this goes for all the designers, not just me, but we will be more than happy to modify the logo after you have chosen a winner - versions with the slogan, without the slogan, with your name, with your initials, grey, black, red whatever ..... so pick the best concept as the winner, then do your fine tuning afterwards.

All the best,

julian

Thank you! I though we had to create the final version here, hence the pressure and uncertainty.

Just got the image on the big screen, thank so much!!!

Flower looks lovely, but I think a bit hard against white. Could we slightly soften it? On the original photo I loved all the colours together including light grey on background, purple/green of the stem and side leaves. I know it's almost impossible to packed it all into the logo, but I might try adding colours later on the website.

Could we leave butterfly and the mannequin for a bit and try to play with the flower.
I think there is too much info at the moment. May be just the flower and the B@H name. And also one version with the slogan.

Then could we see the name in different font, may be a bit refine, like the one here: http://madisonstarcouture.com/images/logo.jpg

And finally if there is time left, try to use the same colour for background as on the photo and the same colour for company name as the leaves and stem of the flower? All with the sharp font?

Hope it all makes sense. Thanks so much. I really appreciate it, Julian!

#149- need much lighter and greyer background. this is a bit blue.
and darker font.
and same on the white background.
is it worth trying different flower size and position? if it's not looking good on your screen, don't worry about it.
thanks!

nope, still strong version.
but... can we try to make both b and h into wings or a something interesting around the mannequin. otherwise ppl ask what's b for?
cheers!

Logo Designer
I've tried it with an H, doesn't look right, its all lop-sided ... and aside from that looks like british home stores ;-)

gosh, we don't want that association. :)
how about doing h as a house and b inside it?
like the font in 214!

Logo Designer
I'd rather not do a house with a B inside it, I think what we're trying to communicate here is sophistication, style, elegance, creativity ... a house with a B inside is just a house with a B inside ... I hope you understand, I'm not trying to be difficult, but I do want to give you my honest opinion!

appreciate it. thanks!
last request.
any chance to turn mannequin into H or outline it so it looks like H. may be slightly lacey metal feel like iron? Middle – in H could be a belt of a sort? I like the mannequin in 23, but may be less fussy.
What do you think? I really want to create H somewhere between those wings.

great image. need to try with words, but later on. will i have assess to all your previous designs (98, 190, ..)?
i am off now. thanks for great-great work!
